Re: The career-high rankings thread

At #15, Petra now has the second-highest career-high ranking of any Croatian woman

She jumped ahead of Talaja (#18) and Sprem (#17):

Re: The career-high rankings thread

Adriana RAJKOVIC (b. 1996) will enter the rankings for the first time in two weeks. She already had ranking points from two events and today at W15 Antalya she won her R1 match--so that's her third event with points.

She's obviously never going to take the tennis world by storm but it's nonetheless a very nice personal accomplishment for her

Re: The career-high rankings thread

We're left with 11 ranked players:

+ Boskovic: More than good enough to win W25 matches. Good enough to win W25 titles? She'll reach new CHRs.

+ Fett: Lots of questions after her disappointing 2018. Her ranking will plummet some more after the AO.

+ Konjuh:

+ Lucic-Baroni: will drop off the rankings in about three weeks, after the AO. Will she play again?

+ Lukas: Will she ever break into the top 200?

+ Martic: Will reach a new CHR next week

+ Mijacika: Will hang on in the rankings until at least June, but it looks like she's more or less retired.

+ Mrdeza: Will she ever break back into the top 200?

+ Primorac: Good enough to win the occasional W25 match, so she'll continue to be ranked.

+ Vekic: New CHR next week

+ Vrljic: She's the 16th oldest player in the WTA (up there with Amanmuradova, Daniilidou and Stevenson). Surely she'll retire soon, no...?

Re: The career-high rankings thread

With the recent mass extinction event, here are the Croatian players who dropped off the WTA rankings:

Ana Biskic (CHR 746; 2018)
Mariana Drazic (CHR 692; 2016)
Tea Faber (CHR 858; 2009)
Ena Kajevic (CHR 805; 2015)
Katja Milas (CHR 1024; 2018)
Silvia Njiric (CHR 370; 2015)
Oleksandra Oliynykova (CHR 847; 2018)
Ivana Topcic (CHR 752=; 2012)

I don't imagine we'll ever see the first five players on the list (Biskic, Drazic, Faber, Kajevic, Milas) with a WTA ranking ever again. RIP

Njiric and Topcic are good enough to win the occasional match at the W25 level, so they'll probably regain a ranking at some point. Oliynykova is still very young, so she'll have her chances.

Based on the live rankings for next week, Donna will move up to #6 in the all-time career-high rankings among Croatian women. Very impressive

Petra will move up to #7

Jelena Kostanic Tosic got bumped down two spots

Re: The career-high rankings thread

In two weeks, we'll have yet another Croatian (after Topcic and Njiric recently) re-enter the WTA rankings: 24 year-old Katja Milas.

Katja reached a CHR of #782 in late 2011. After that she played two tournaments in 2013, another two in 2016, then seems to have started competing more-or-less regularly this April.

Re: The career-high rankings thread

In two weeks, we'll have one more ranked player: 27 year-old Ivana Topcic (nee Klepic).

Ivana was ranked in the top 800 in 2012. She played two tournaments in the summer of 2013, then didn't play again until November 2017.

I'm guessing she went to college (in the U.S.?). Sounds like she also got married.

Re: The career-high rankings thread

.
Following their recent good form, Donna is now at #8 on the all-time list of Croatian career-high rankings (CHR #46). She's very close to overtaking Martic at #7 (CHR #42)
After that, there would be a substantial jump before she can overtake Kostanic Tosic at #6 (CHR #32).

...and Jana Fett is at #13 (CHR #99), just slightly behind Lisjak (CHR #95)

Yep, that was an oversight. Thanks for catching it. I've fixed it on the original post.

Re: The career-high rankings thread

So far this week, Jana has cut her ranking by almost 15%, from 123 to 107

That's a new CHR for her. She overtakes Palaversic as #13 on the list of highest CHR's among Croatian women. One more win this week could put her above Lisjak

Re: The career-high rankings thread

Donna moves into a tie with Ajla at #8 on the list of Croatians with the highest career-high rankings. One good result and she could eclipse (at least temporarily) Ajla and Petra

Also Jana pulls away from Nika Ozegovic at #14 is now one good result away from overtaking Maja Palaversic at #13.
