hm, I don't know, it's only their 2nd meeting and Kiri lost the other one...

but Tatishvili isn't having a good season, so I'd say Maria will(must) win this. 7-5 6-3 for Kiri DAVAI Kiri!!

Anyone have any predictions on when she plays 1st, Monday or Tuesday?? Trouble is it's a tournement that is shared with the mens so it will be a bit smushed and cramped on the 1st few days. Just hopeful that her court will get televised. ( )

Yes I have heard of that it could be good for little maria . Of course it is just speculation now so I want some conformation from either player first. So lets not get excited just yet. By the way, thanks for answering my Question.

...at least Kiri's good friend and hitting partner Sori Cirstea made it into the final
I'm watching the final right now to cheer for her

On to your second point, yes we will have to accept that the other player on the day who beats her just played better no matter how hard maria fights. She needs to have a good run in Cincinnati but as Iblis said she can't bet past the 2nd round.

Lastly we know she has great potential to get to a GS Final because of all the big names she has beaten like you said. It will happen time will tell.

Last Question to all of you guys, do reckon she needs a new coach to give her that last big push??
Yes 94, yes. I have said for years that Kiri needs a good tennis coach to help her get to the next level. She is obviously not easy to coach because she fires them even after success. Eric Van Harpen comes to mind. For years now Makiri's father Yuri has run the show and I think that has held her back from Aga like success. He is not a tennis coach he is her father but they get to keep all the money in the family with him as coach. Most players as they age leave their parents and work with proferssionals. But not our Kiri. Also top coaches may not be knocking down the door to work with Kiri. Look at the quality of coaches Big Maria has had in her career. They blow Little Maria's coaches away. In closing I do not expect Kiri to hire a well known coach to help her get to the next level. Her father will continue to run the show.

I watched the Kirilenko / Robson match again and there were several points such as match point where Kiri gave little effort to get to shots. That's not like her. I hope it was her knee barking alot that prevented her from hustling after shots like she normally does. If she isn't running well she cannot win. We all know that.

Good luck to Kiri in Cincy. I hope she makes the third round and plays Serena. That will be a real test and Maria needs that. If Kiri is feeling okay she may accept a wildcard into New Haven if she doesn't go far next week.

Yeah, I can totally see that, like Errani in Rome this year (Sharapova was the one who retired).

Re: Maria in Toronto - Rogers Cup 2013

you are right Iblis and MaKiri94, another unlucky period for Kiri is coming up....well she never was a lucky girl throughout her career. Ok, maybe she had some nice draws from time to time, for example Wimbledon 12, New Haven 12 and French Open 13, where she eventually took her chances to get deep. But then look how often she draws for example a local player for R1, or an unbeatable Serena in early rounds

Well life just gets better and shitter for darling maria. Early exit in rogers cup and potentially another early exit in Cincinnati, the bad luck just keeps coming for her as she gets Serena in R3, if she gets that far. Y'know maybe she should have an early exit to spare her and us the humiliation of a double bagel.

Re: Maria in Toronto - Rogers Cup 2013

Lol to Serena, hopefully she'll tank, withdraw or something, but I wouldn't rely on that too much. Actually, it's not like Barthel/Safarova would be an easy match at all, another R2 loss, maybe? :\
On a side note, since #12 seed for the US Open is basically already out of reach, we should prepare ourselves to another probable Serena draw (this time in R4); it would be a 3/4 on Slams, not bad.

Let us just bring to the USO...
Yes, Maria is scheduled to play Barthel or Safarova in the 2nd round.

Last year Serena's effort level in Cincy wasn't too good. It even kind of seemed like she was trying to tank to Ula but Ula didn't want it. Like last year, Cincy is Serena's 3rd tournament of the summer and she'll probably be in the Toronto final, so maybe Serena will bring a similar level of play to Cincy this year as she did last year.
