Re: Louisa Chirico

Definitely a long road back. She said on Twitter that it's improving, but slowly.

Re: Louisa Chirico

Louisa is finally able to start hitting again, according to her Instagram. For a shoulder injury, it could have been much worse; it may still be a long road back, though.

Thank you, Meelis. At least we know what's going on now. Hope she can fully heal and then start back where she left off: rising!

Nonetheless, she's not in the draw. What a shame, after all her hard work and improvement, to have to miss her home Slam.

Re: Louisa Chirico

Hopefully she’ll get better soon. Such a shame as she was really starting to round back into form. 🙂

Louisa was in the Landisville qualy field until her late withdrawal on Aug. 2. Wonder what's going on with her now?

She did get into qualies in that WTA International event in Bucharest, the week after her Versmold QF loss -- but she lost a lopsided Q1 match there to Basak Eraydin.

Re: Louisa Chirico

Catching up:
Louisa lost in r2 in that Stare Spavey 60K. Took a couple weeks off and then made the QFs in last week's 60K in Versmold, Germany.

Now ranked 227, a nice jump from her bizarre and depressing 2018 YE ranking of 451.

No idea when or where she's playing next. I expected to see her name in the entry lists of the series of 60Ks in the US, but so far have only noticed her on withdrawal lists.

Yeah, I agree. Matches on clay are a good way for her to work on her game in general, and playing in these 60Ks is a huge step up from the clay court 25s she was doing so well in a few months ago.

Unfortunately, she's not getting as many matches in as she'd like the last couple of weeks. Today she lost in r2 to seasoned claycourt player Paula Ormaechea, 67 26.

Re: Louisa Chirico

Through r1 in Stare Splavy a straightforward win over a qualifier, 64 63.

Re: Louisa Chirico

Louisa did play Rome, but lost a close straight-set match to Conny Perrin in the first round, 67(3) 57. But she stuck around for doubles and made it to the SFs with DiLorenzo. However, they only played 2 matches, as their 2nd match was a W/O. Still, she got a little more tennis in.

Next up, sticking with the clay court theme, she moves on to the Czech Republic to play in the Stare Splavy 66K+H. She's the only North American player on the MD list there; I guess most US and Canadian players in Louisa's ranking range -- she's #245 now -- are more interested right now in hitting the grass.
