|Robbie.||Also I think that Jelena is a similar type to Iva Majoli - less powerful maybe, but more consistent. She even outsteadied Amanda on some pts I'd say she is definitely capable of a top 50 ranking at this stage.|

|Robbie.||The booing was sarcastic. A bunch of the face painted poncho wearing aussies were stirring up the crowd all match and the booing was light hearted. That was the impression I got from being there.|

Experimentee: Yeah that was the incident I was talking about. They seemed pro-Amanda and booed Jelena when she hit a ball in frustration.
Aloysius: Jelena got those WC into those American Hardcourt events because her management company is IMG and IMG ran those events

The crowd was a bit harsh on Jelena with the booing. Since when was venting frustration a crime? She didn't hurt or say anything to anybody.
I saw the name Bolletieri mentioned. That explains how Jelena got some of those Wildcards into the American hardcourt WTA events.

|Experimentee||I thought they were booing Jankovic when she hit a ball hard in frustration when she lost a point. I also thought the crowd were very pro Amanda, but with some Jelena fans too. Amanda is always a crowd favourite when she plays here and never fails to please. I think Jelena is just an ordinary solid baseliner, nothing really special about her game. I saw her for the first time against Rossana in the first round and then Amanda. She'll be top 100, but unless she improves, not too much more.|

They did boo Jelena when she slammed a ball in frustration. I felt bad for her then, I thought she would cry but she really impressed me with her composure.
Good solid game but doesn't have the weapons of Jelena # 1
I think we'll see her in the top 50, or definitely top 100 by the end of this year.

Wow- how long was this match shown on TV? Damn it-
it did sound kind of rowdy ala Eleni, and her Greek supporters.
I missed a good one.
Yep, I liked what I saw of Jelena too. The first I heard
of her was on the National Geographic Channel. There
was a documentary series on the science of modern sports
medicine, and one episode featured tennis. The show
featured young juniors at the Nick Bolletari Academy, and
kids at one of the big events. Can't remember if it was
the Orange Bowl or Easter Bowl. Anyway- one of the kids
they interviewed and feature was...Jelena Jankovic.

|Robbie.||Steve's right, the crowd got very vocal in the second and third sets of the match and the chanting was mainly pro jelena - interspersed of course with my cries of "Come on Amanda!" It was really an epic slugfest but I was so relieved when Amanda hit that final forehand winner!|

she didnt do anything...Jelena had alot of Jugoslav supporters out there with the flags and they were cheeruing her on very loudly saying stuff like 'ajmo jelena' (cmon jelena) and stuff!!!! jelena was mixing the play upvery well which gave amanda trouble and i think it was a tactic to give amanda some of her own medicine...
i liked what i saw of jelena, hopefully she keeps improving ...she looked really sad towards the end and i think the crowd was booinng a line call that went against Jelena, her shot clipped the baseline on a moonball and the crowd was skeptical as to whether it was out...they were PRO JELENA

What did Jankovic do to get such a bad time from the crowd?
Watched the last 3 points of set number three on TV;
and the crowd, and even tv commentators were hoping
for a Coezter win? What did she do? I noticed a couple
of moonball type shots got groans from the audience..but
I missed the first 2 sets. I didn't tune in because of the
long men's matches today.
