You were wrong, it was the use of the "F" word that got Serena the warning -- if you look at a replay of the tape, it's very clear. I saw it even before she got the warning and thought "oh my! that's very unlike Serena." But then the whole match was not very Serena-like -- Loit did an excellent job of confounding Serena, so I thought it was a very fun match to watch.

And in defense of treufriend, at first I thought it was a time penalty warning too, cuz after Serena cursed, she also walked around the back of the court for quite a long time and the penalty wasn't assessed immediately -- it was only assessed because the linesperson who was standing right in front of Serena when she yelled went up and *told* the chair umpire, who apparently had either not heard Serena or was going to let it pass, but couldn't when the linsperson made an issue of it.

If Serena lost poeple probably would have jammed the board posting all kind of BS like this thread. Some people need to learn some class.

jojoseph it couldn't have been gamesmanship

the linejudge got up and walked over to the chair umpire and complained

the linejudge doesn't make gamesmanship calls, the chair umpire does

Volcana treufreund - I've never heard anyone get a warning for 'gamesmanship'. You can get warnings, (and point deductions) for taking too much time. (As happened to Dani H a few months back on match point.) What would you have to do to get a 'gamesmanship' warning. Too many bathroom breaks?

Lee-Waters' Boy yeah she swore with fuck ......not gamesmanship i taped it if you want to see lol

Keith OMG, and this was televised? What kind of example is she setting?! Little girls look up to her....

tenn_ace it should be point-game-default

there is no warning (as official punishment, it's called "soft warning"), so to be defaulted she can still say three other f words (unless it's a bad offense like hitting an official or opponent)
