In a french article, it's write that Marie-Ève Pelletier got a qualyWC...but she could can't use it if she win her quarter match at Pelham.

well, I think WCs are given to players mostly to improve their ranking, so if she won a match here last year, she wont defend here so what's the use of the WC last year/.

They are not given to people to increase their rank. They are given to people who pay the most for them or to people that will get asses in the stands. It has nothing to do with improving rank. Lastly you worth of a WC is not determined by how you preformed with a WC in the past.
