Eye's New Spreadsheet Guide for Managers

Guidelines:

- You may choose one tournament per week. Please do not ask for more than one tournament per week unless we need a manager last minute.
- Be able to post updates after every day or every round. Either one is fine.
- Use whatever method of management you need and refer to the guide above for help.
- If you have any questions please ask in this thread or PM any of the managers. Don't worry, we don't bite!
- Anyone can manage a tournament, but if you are a newer manager try to start with a 32 player tournament.
- If you commit to a tournament, always be mindful of the day and time the first round starts.
- Don't forget to email your sheets to @Random Run for the rankings! - reservoirdogui@gmail.com

YOUR help is needed to keep this game alive. It's easy, fun, and you get to see your score before everyone else.

Here comes the new season, boys and girls! As I take over the managers thread this year, I'd like to thank everyone for stepping up to the challenge of sustaining the lifeline of this game through your amazing efforts as managers. Looking forward to another fruitful FITD season with y'all. :rocker:

You may now call dibs on the tournaments you want to take. New managers are very much welcome to commit! If you have questions, feel free to post them here! Happy managing!

I'll take Melbourne, Hua Hin, and Guadalajara. :oh:

Both Newport Beach and Indian Wells 125k will have 48 players. I think there should be an adjustment over their scoring and ranking points just like how Charleston and Eastbourne points deviate from the usual 32-draw Premiers. @BMT360

I want to take the following tournaments:

Shenzhen
Newport Beach
Dubai
Indian Wells (MAN)
Bogota
Madrid
Bol

If nothing change in my life at summer I will not have much free time and hardly will be able to run a tournament or at best I might get 1. Normally after USO I will have more time and can take 2-3 more tournaments till end of season

I would like to help out with Auckland :) I am already doing Auckland in a different game, so I will be up anyways and available for updates :grin2:

also Budapest, as my "home" event :inlove:

Thank you for signing up to manage FITD again after a long while! :D

Looking forward to Budapest! However, most events from January to March have already been taken, including the season opener in Auckland. Would you like to consider doing other tournament/s instead? ;)

you and I both know that there is a strong probability that I will need to open the Auckland thread :oh: I know why I asked :oh:
I might do some in the future for sure, I want to help this game and the managing is really not that demanding as many other games :D

I tried to compute and draft a ranking distribution for 125k (48S) events using the pattern of other events. :oh: Some parts of this distribution, particularly the later ranges, are based off personal estimates, hence I don't claim this to be mathematically accurate in its entirety. If you have any suggestions to improve it or if you wish to propose a new distribution, be my guest. Let's discuss it before the season begins. :yeah:

I've just looked over this, but it's a bit flawed. Doesn't really balance that well between Internationals and 32 draw size 125ks, imo. In my proposal below, I've made sure that the system is balanced out between Internationals and 32 size 125k. These larger 125ks are better than smaller 125ks but are still worse than Internationals even though it is a larger draw. If it was based on toughness of the picking, we would've adopted eye's proposal into our rules, but that isn't the case. It still has to be valued as the second lowest tier of events during the season.

ATTENTION ALL FITD MANAGERS!

Please send me a copy of your FITD Spreadsheets as soon as stats are complete (So ASAP)! Thanks to @eye, we are in the process of testing a new ranking spreadsheet! If you can do this, we can maybe run some live rankings and race this season which could be kind of neat. :)

Happy New Year to all. Wish you all the best for this year at your peronal lifes and at this game also.

I created a new spreadsheet for the rankings purposes. The functionality of it is good just due to the complexity of the rankings rules is working slowly and I am not really so happy about this. Although it surely makes the whole calculation prossess much faster and reduces almost to 0 the possibility of a human mistake.

There is only one requirement for this. @BMT360 should have a direct access to the data of each tournament and not just the photo you post at the tournament's thread. So you should either send him the spreadsheet of tournament at the end of it or a bit earlier (I assume it is not that hard for him to enter the results of tennis matches) or use the live version of spreadsheet. @BMT360 is doing this hard task for years and spent too much time doing it manually so he deserves our help to do this much easier.

Concerning live rankings it is possible to have them just I see few difficulties

1) I am not sure if live rankings is something that is interesting to many to have them. Probably only a bit at end of season there is some interest.
2) Requires all managers to run their tournaments using the live version of spreadsheet in order the rankings spreadsheet to get data from there
3) The current ranking spreadsheet is running very slowly due to the many and complex formulas. Adding more formulas in order to run live will make it more slow.

I am trying to make spreadsheet work faster cause I am not really happy on how it is running. So if you believe that there is interest and you are willing to run all tournaments live then I will try to find a way to have live rankings.

Hi, sorry for the late response. BMT360 and I agree that his proposal is better, so I guess we take that one. Unless, other managers could come up with another scoring? What do you think?
