I remember that former GOAT Martina HINGIS would visit Notre Dame cathedral (RIP) on the eve of the Roland Garros draw in order to run rosary beads between her fingers and pray for a fortunate draw :surprise:
well now we are less than 24 hours away from the fates of our favorites being decided:
Draw Ceremony: Thursday, 23 May at 7:00pm at “l’Orangerie” in the Botanic Garden
at this time tomorrow, this thread will transform into a live discussion thread of the MD Ceremony (hopefully it will be streamed again)
until then, let's imagine ourselves in Notre Dame, and list some match ups that we would like to see the draw throw down ... here are mine:
ZHENG v TATISHVILLI :nerd:
ZHANG v [WC] JANICJEVIC
[Q] X WANG v [22] ANDREESCU
MLADENOVIC v [4] BERTENS
[16] Q WANG v BOUCHARD
V WILLIAMS v [13] WOZNIACKI >
[Q] XU v [WC] ALBIE
Y WANG v [WC] PARRY
I hope it happens in every tournament they play. Maybe then, when both of the them are in danger of dropping from top50, we are going to see something that doesn't scream "training session"?
If not Serena-Venus, then maybe Serena-Mladenovic?
Also Halep - Mladenovic/Vondrousova/Ostapenko would be interesting.
Azarenka - Cibulkova/Sabalenka?
Re: 2019 RG of France MD Ceremony Less Than 24 Hours Away - What Are Your Wishes?
I'd love SAISAI to draw Serena so we can admire her claycourt expertise on the biggest stage. She's already won the other RG this year so she'd be the favourite coming in, no?
it depends on the draw ... if any of the French girls draw a top SEED, that will be the match ... if not, then it will be MLADENOVIC, CORNET or GARCIA
Re: 2019 RG of France MD Ceremony Less Than 24 Hours Away - What Are Your Wishes?
is this the first year that they do the FO draw on Thursday? Historically it didn't come out until like 1:30pm on Friday afternoon (very, very late considering the Sunday start).

Re: Countdown to 2019 RG of France MD Ceremony - Today @19.00 Paris Time
I had to look up who Janicijevic was and I see she's basically a junior. I hope she is at least competitive cause I can think of someone playing in qualifying who deserved a wild card (she's still alive, so it may become a moot point if she qualifies).
