Exclamation Official statements about the 2010 season: thanks to 7th leg fun I'm 80% convinced

Since I've received a lot of messages about it, I'm going to answer once for all and get a few things straight.

I've lost interest in this game in the past few months, and it's clearly showed by the fact I've still things to do for the 6th leg 2 months after its conclusion. One of the highlights of this season IMHO was the US Open Series, but that was a different game, and this makes me wonder even more. And the current state of the WTA Tour doesn't help as well.

I've already had a similar state of mind, more than once in the past decade, and I always managed to get through somehow with more motivation. There are 2 more legs in the current season, and I will run them for sure, together with the 2 off-season YECs.

At this stage I don't know what I'm going to do in 2010. If I find a reason to look forward to the next season, I will be more than happy to go on and post the sign up threads. But it has to be a very good one, because last year the sign up process took 5 months and hundreds of messages to get all the entry lists completed.

I must say there's nothing much you posters can do about it, this is not a message craving for attention and pushing you say how good I am and how great the game is. It's all about me and my desire to go on.

If it's not going to happen, I take this chance to thank all of you for supporting me and this game throughout a whole decade.

See you on Monday for the 7th leg scores!

Re: Official statement about the 2010 season

TP is one of the main reasons I log on around here tbh and I for one will be very sad to see it go but as with all things in life all good things must come to an end.

Also first and foremost you must do what makes you happy. If it does conclude at the end of the season thank you for the great few years of the game and best of luck with everything.

P.S. at least I was lucky enough to win a Singles, Doubles & Fed Cup title before the end

Same sentiment here! Except for the singles win in your P.S.

Also the same sentiment. And I do have a singles win (more than one even).

Re: Official statement about the 2010 season

Echo the sentiments above.

I've recently concluded that there's little point in doing something if it feels more of an obligation than a pleasure. Things on these boards - the people, the WTA etc - are quite different to the way they were ten years ago.

The only point I would make is that you consider if sharing the load would influence your desire to carry on. I would imagine there are posters that would be willing to help out - indeed, I would myself (provided you let me rig it and make it past qualifying to thrash Kuilli one last time.)

If you do decide to not carry on, thanks for letting me participate and remember you could always decide to retire and then change your mind after five minutes. If you feel uncomfortable with that I could refer you to certain Belgian tennis players that would be able to talk you through it.

Same sentiments here.. I used to spam this board with posts, but lately I only log in to check on TP.
Thanks for everything Doc! You're a terrific gamemaster!
May be it helps to simplify the game, change some rules, make it less work so you can concentrate on other parts of the game (like socializing with all these moderator trolls in the game)

Maybe you just need a long break from this, Doc. I don't blame you. You've been dedicated to this game for over a decade and everything is appreciated!

Re: Official statement about the 2010 season

Thank you all for your kind words and support.

The work load is not really an issue, through the years I've found a lot of ways to cut things short and it takes just a few hours to compile a whole leg, and this time can be divided up to 6 weeks, becoming just a handful of minutes per day. I could use some help with the sign up threads for sure though.

Said that, the 7th leg has been and will be a lot of fun. If a low-scoring leg can be so entertaining, I'm positive there's a future for Tennis Poker. At this very moment, I'm 80% convinced to go on.

I'm not gonna ask what you consider 'a lot of fun', Doc

I have been in denial all this time. I just knew Doc couldn't possibly stop running the tennis poker.

It obviously involves you losing all your matches.

DoctorG, if you need some help with the sign-up threads, I'm sure Kuilli will be able to help out - she'll have plenty of extra time after she crashes out in the first round of each leg next year.

Failing that, I'll help you - I'm quite good at harrassing posters via PM I get told .

Oh and I promise to be ruder than ever to anyone that plays this game if it carries on next year.

Except James, The Crow and Kuilli.

I'm not sure I could be much ruder to them.

Kuilli wouldn't mind helping at all, but she will not have internet access for too much longer , so that leaves in on Kart's shoulders.

Don't give up so easily. I am sure with a little effort you can do it.
