I really don't get this Champions League. Well, as long as Doc understands it.

It's not that difficult. You get points for each win and Doc adds them all up and rounds the result. Some wins are worth more, others less. Like singles win is worth 0.4, worlds win 0.2 and so on. If you have more points than your opponent, you will win your match, if the points are the same, you draw and if you have less you lose. You play everybody in your group, and after the round robin is over, people with most points move on (don't remember how many move on from each group). That's about it. I think.

So why does it need 0.5 to get a point? Both scores are definite. Does that mean I won't get a point there at all or will that point follow later?

Well, your worlds win was worth only 0.2, so if you round that, you'll get 0. So, you will need one or two more wins (depending on a value of a win), to get a point. If you win singles tomorrow, you will have 0.6 points and that rounds up to 1 point. Your worlds win is only meaningless if you don't get more than 0.5 points. In that case, your final result will be 0 points in that match. Basically, Doc rounds your points to the nearest integer.

So it will be a zero. Both scores are definitive.

No, you are missing the point, I think. Stop looking at worlds as a single event. Worlds score is definitive, and it stays at 0.2. The scores will not be rounded until all the events are finished. So your 0.2 points will still count even though it says 0 at the moment on the scoreboard. The results that Doc has posted so far are just updates after each day, and yours will change as soon as you win more.

The people who have scored 1 point so far have won more than one match. Winning just one match is not going to give anybody a point - everybody's scores will be worth 0 for just one win. The idea is to add up the values for all the wins, so your worlds score might help you get 1 point at the end of the leg.

Say you have your worlds win and you win one singles match also and lose everything else, that will give you 0.6 points all together and you will end up with 1 point. If you didn't have that worlds win, you would only end up with 0.4 points, and your final result would be 0.

Now let's say you win Doppio Giallo match in addition to your worlds win, but lose everything else. Doppio Giallo win is worth only 0.2, so you will end up 0.4 points all together, and you are screwed cause that rounds down to 0.

Do I make any sense? It's too late to try to be clear.

Basically, think of your score against Fiona as 0.2-0 if that helps you (you leading). If nothing changes and neither of you wins anything else, your points will be rounded to 0 and you end up with 0-0.

Re: 2nd leg scores: check today's matches!

I am quite tired of losing to per4ever now. Can I lose to someone else in the next leg?

You could lose to me, but that's not going to help us in doubles and Fed Cup. How about you win for a change?

Re: 2nd leg scores: check today's matches!

It's very kind of you to offer, but frankly, I would rather lose to per4ever in every single leg for the rest of the season.

Winning is so over-rated anyway. Look at all the people who do it.

Pfff. What is so wrong with losing to me? Per is nice, but so am I.

I still don't understand. Both worlds scores are definitive. I understand perfectly that the others can still change. The worlds score just won't. That will stay at zero then, won't it?

Eddy!!!!!!!!!!!! What am I going to do with you?!

No, it will not stay at 0. It will stay at 0.2. The sum of all your scores will only be rounded after all your matches have finished. If at that point you still only have 0.2 points, your final score will be 0. Do NOT round every single event separately.

Just ignore Doc's daily updates. They seem to confuse you. Or wait till tomorrow. It might be bit more clear after tomorrow's scores.

You can't possibly be talking about doubles.

One final try.

Here you are:
Princess Fiona ( 18 ) vs James ( 19 )
0 – 0
Total: 0 – 0.2
Singles: 0 – 0
Doubles: 0 – 0
Doppio Giallo: (0) – 0
Fed Cup: (0) – (0)
Worlds: (0) – (0.2)

Add up all the scores: 0 + 0 + 0 +0 + 0.2 = 0.2
Now round the result: 0.2 rounds down to 0.

Do NOT round the definitive score for each event separately. You only round it after you have added all the scores together.

Now I should sleep.
