Question 2016 season: let's discuss some new rules and possible improvements!

Here's the thread to discuss some possible improvements for the 2016 season.

SINGLES & DOUBLES

Last year we abolished the joker and the qualifying draws for singles and doubles, manly because of the reduced number of players. I can't see any reason to let them back, but if you think it's better to reintroduce them, I surely will.

DOPPIO GIALLO

Here's the first big change I would like to try. Let's give one Doppio Giallo title per leg, just like the regular doubles tour. We give performance and round points, just like in the regular doubles tour, for an individual Doppio Giallo ranking. And, of course, we do change pairs after each leg, the main feature of the Doppio Giallo event. From that point on, we can still give medals at the end of the season to the ranking top 3, and maybe even introduce the Doppio Giallo event in the 2017 Worlds.

FED CUP & WORLDS

No changes planned. Let me know if you have any idea.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Here's the second proposal for a new rule. Singles, doubles, Fed Cup, Worlds main draw byes can affect the result of a Champions League match reducing the number of available points. This means an advantage you have gained by merit has a negative impact; thi sdoesn't seem fair. On the other hand, giving full points for a win would be too much, as the hypothetical match could have been lost as well. So, what about giving about 0.2 for a singles bye, 0.1 for a doubles (or any other event such as Fed Cup rubbers) bye?

In brief:

1) Joker or qualies back?

2) A Doppio Giallo tour similar to regular doubles?

3) Champions League reduced points for main draw byes?

Thank you for sharing your ideas.

One last thing! I've decided to create a thread with the player profiles: one post per player with all the Tennis Poker wins and stats.

1) No joker or qualies seems fine.
2) Good idea
3) I understand where you're coming from, but if you're that good you should be able to win in CL without getting points for a bye (I don't get byes regularly; does it show? ) What about awarding points for the bye if you win the next round? (but I guess this will only work in the regular leg tournaments and not in Fedcup and so on)...

It's a good idea, but it works only for singles and doubles, where you do play a round besides the one with the bye; that is not the case for Fed Cup or Worlds.

1. No, keep them away.

2. Yes, I like this idea.

3. And I like this also. Having byes in both singles and doubles really hurts, so I'm for it, and not only because I'm the one with the byes right now. I would even support this if Crow was the one with the byes.

Hi Doc, so, if a Fedcup team with 2 players has a bye in a leg, how many points would a player get for free? Only 0.1 or more?

If only I was sure that my head on the door was a dream

0.1 per rubber, 0.3 in total for all the current teams of 2, vs a possible 1.0 with 3 wins.

And a possible 0 with 3 losses.

I'm not pro this (although I wouldn't have big issues with it; there's some sense in it) simply because there are other things that are unfair as well. If you are in a fedcup team with 4 players with Kuilli and Geewhiz, you only play doubles in Fedcup which is quite unfair as well.

Is it an option to half all points for a victory in a competition that not everyone plays in that leg?

Why not.

Another option could be counting the % of wins out of the matches effectively played.

Oh I like that, although it's a completely different concept.

It is, and I'm starting to like it. A sort of pentathlon, based on the average performance. I might give it a try for an exhibition during the 8th leg.
