Re: Seoul 2014

Whew. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maria holds for 6-4 3rd set at Ad Maria from 30-0 to 30-15 (2nd serve) to 40-15 (2nd serve) to 40-40. Great job Maria. The match was 2 hours 10 minutes long.

Maria was down 2-0 3rd set then went up a break at 3-2 3rd set but got broken for 3-3 3rd set. She broke at 4-4 3rd set to serve for the match.

Francine Parker: What the hell are they?
Peter: They're us, that's all, when there's no more room in hell.
Stephen: What?
Peter: Something my granddad used to tell us. You know Macumba? Vodou. My granddad was a priest in Trinidad. He used to tell us, "When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the Earth."

Re: Seoul 2014

I really need a better way to live stream. I wasn't able to get to get it working and ended up with adware again and my antivirus software disappeared.

Stephen: What?

Re: Seoul 2014

Not an easy one, but a win is a win (36 62 64), congratulations to Kiri!

I couldn't find a working live stream till the 2nd set 11, but from that moment I have a kind of video record. (I suppose, she was mega-rusty in the 1st set.) In the 2nd set, fortunately, Vekic made a lot of UEs (she was possibly nervous). In the deciding set I felt already Makiri's slight advantage in the play.

Makiri produced several nice winners during the match, but mostly only UEs (thanks to her impatience). Anyway, a very important victory, she must go on and play as many sharp matches as possible .

So good to see that she won!
I'm so happy, this is great way to start a day! :-)
2nd round vs Koukalova.
If I remember well, Kiri has bad h2h with Klara.

Re: Seoul 2014

First three-setter of the year, and she won it. :O
Now she will probably be drained against Koukalova, (h2h 4-3, but 1-2 by hardcourt) Maria hasn't won two matches in a row in 2014 yet... so yeah, it's not like we should really expect a deep run.
Good win nonetheless.

Use SportLemon Tv and don't download anything, never, for any reason.

Not bad, but not that good either. She usually suffers her game.

Thanks for the link. I tested it and it actually works on my system.

Klara Koukalova (age:32, #37) is a very TALENTED player, actually! She's not top10 only because of 2 reasons:
- she's small (1.66m, 55kg), therefore not strong enough (yes, Cami-Kaze Giorgi is very powerful with a similar size, but she's a rare exception!)
- she has (and always had) TEMPER/PATIENCE problems: When she gets angry, her game is annihilated!

Now the problem with Kiri is that she loves doing "tricks" even if they are not necessary, or NOT WORKING at all (she messed it a couple of times vs. Vekic too). And Koukalova is a SMART and SKILLED player, the cheap tricks don't work. Instead, Kiri should emphasize her more optimal physique: move Koukalova a lot, and hit winners to the other side of the court. (She can make a try with the net play, but only AFTER Koukalova became angry .)

Re: Seoul 2014

yeahhh, third win of the season

well, next is Koukalova. We shouldn't expect too much, I actually would be surprised if she should win. Anyway, every match she can play should help her.
She also is playing doubles with Wickmayer

Maria Kirilenko

...olympic bronze medalist...

I think she has a decent chance vs. Koukalova. Koukalova is just the right kind of opponent that she needs now(!), because Kiri must find the way to win matches in the possible shortest time (to spare her body, especially her legs). I think she has to sharpen her offensive skills:
- hit winners to the other side
- hit killer volleys at the net
- use "on the run" offensive returns

Re: Seoul 2014

She plays doubles on CC against Pliskovas (they won last week in Hong Kong) and singles against Klara on thursday.
In GM people wrote that Klara was bad today, hope that's true and Kiri will win first time this year back to back matches.
In live ranking, she is 153. atm .

Jelena Jankovic
Maria Kirilenko
Ana Ivanovic
Genie Bouchard
