Maria in Seoul - Korea Open 2013

What's up guys? the Asian swing will start soon for Maria, she's scheduled to play this international, Tokyo, Beijing and then Moscow.
Here there is her section of the main draw:

Quote:
(7)Petkovic v Schiavone
Razzano v Dominguez Lino
Watson v Date-Krumm
Q v (2)Kirilenko
No big name in the qualies, so it should be a doable R1. Overall, the field is pretty strong though (Radwanska, Zakopalova, Pavlyuchenkova, Petkovic), hopefully Maria will be able to make a deep run.

Re: Maria in Seoul - Korea Open 2013

that pic of her with the trophy is just..

the draw for Seoul doesn't look too bad, well it has to do so if you are no.2 seed

but I don't like to see Petkovic in her half...ok, let's see from match to match, R1 should be winnable
..anyway, no points to defend for Kiri, as she had to retire in R1 last year

so the most important thing is that she stays fit and healthy this time.

good luck Maria!

Re: Maria in Seoul - Korea Open 2013

She's 0-3 against Petkovic (!)... but I think that Razzano has a shot too.
Yeah, she looks wonderful in that pic, especially if you consider that she isn't even wearing any make-up.

Re: Maria in Seoul - Korea Open 2013

R1 for Maria will be against a qualifier named Chin-Wei Chan. I don't really know her.
Well, I've read her Wikipedia page, she's ranked #152 at the moment, never played a GS MD match... a win against Maria would be the best of her career by some margin. It seems she's 1,69 m (5 ft), so I suppose she's a grinder (maybe a pusher). Shouldn't be tough for Maria, if she's ok.

so I would say, it's one of those matches which you "MUST" win...

Kiri will play on the Centre Court, not before 2:10 PM local time. That means not before 07:10 AM for me here in Italy (CET)
Maybe I can watch it (it will be streamed, won't it?)

Re: Maria in Seoul - Korea Open 2013

Kiri just won the first set by 6-3

..but it was quite a struggle so far...and I read on twitter that she had a MTO already in the first game (I missed that)
So let's hope she can pull it through in two

Re: Maria in Seoul - Korea Open 2013

Maria wins 6-3 6-3

she played some really good points in the 2nd set, but I'm still very worried about her serve...

her 1st serve % was only 49% and she hit 6 DF's...(2 aces)
...and she was broken to love while serving for the match.
some good stats:
Maria saved 8 of 10 breakpoints, and won 5 of 6

next is Date-Krumm

Well, that's something. 10 bps are way too much, though.
I remember that match in Fed Cup against Kimiko, it wasn't an easy one.

you're right...she had to save breakpoints in almost every service game
I can only remember of one easy hold, it was the 6th game in the 2nd set to move up 5-1*, if I'm not wrong...

well, let's be happy about the win in two sets
just look what happened to Zakopalova. She lost to Su Jeong Jang, world no. 540...
