Sarah Loosemore..... saw her when she first became pro and looked to have some promise. Disappeared!!!!
Sarah Gomer... sorry, but I can only credit her with using an unusual raquet called the Mad Raq. Strings were pulled diagnol, not up and down and left/right. Sarah seemed to cop a blasting from the British press. Got more publicity out of John Lloyd calling her fat, than any of her wins.
Monique Javer - USA come Brit, by virtue of her mother?? Her nervousness in a Fed Cup match was apparently dispelled by trying to imagine all the spectators being naked!!! Seemed a bit of a character, I remember her half laughing half crying over losing a match against Arantxa whilst leading 64 41, pts for 51.
Another ex-pat Rubanova, Olga Morozovas daughter who moved to England, never made a mark on the tour. Wasn't she up to it??? Or had other interests???
Anne Hobbs was pretty cool. Playing with Wendy Turnbull in doubles they were called Hobbitt and Rabbit.
Anabel Croft - probably better on the TV screen than the tennis court!
Jo Durie - said she could beat Martina during Martinas hey days, and copped a blasting from fellow tour players. They met a few days later in the Aus Open and Jo nearlly lived up to her boast losing 46 63 64. Her first set was desribed as one of the best seen in a match at Kooyong.
There's more to life than just being happy.
