Anna in Paris

Well not the worst draw for Anna, she will play Gagliardi in the 1st round, who has qualified for the event. Let's hope it's slightly easier for Anna than in Auckland a few weeks ago against her, where it was 7-5 in the 3rd. It gets played tomorrow btw.

If she manages to get through that, then it's Amelie, so she will be underdog and obviously in front of Amelie's home crowd, but provided she can get through the 1st match, I think she can beat Amelie.

Good luck Anna, you can do it!!!!!!

Anna is playing a lot better right now, so I don't think Gagliardi will give her as much trouble this time. However, Emmanuelle is no walkover!

Vamos Anna!!!

Anna's in great form at the moment, possibly even better than Mauresmo. Anna's good. She can do it. She's going to win her first title right here, right now. For sure.

GO ANNA

Well Anna's through to meet Amelie, but only just!!

A very similar match to the one in Auckland, it was 2-6 6-4 7-5 back then, this time it was 6-7 6-4 6-4.

Anna was 3-1 in the 1st set, before going 5-3 down, before managing to take it to the tiebreak. She looked out of it in the 2nd set, when she went 0-3 down and it was a double break, but she got it back to 3-3, before losing serve again, but then took the next 3 games to take the set.
In the 3rd set, Anna went 2-0 up, before it went to 2-2. Anna then went 5-2 up, although only one break of serve, had a match point for 6-2, Gagliardi held, then Anna I think was broken to love, to get it back on serve at 5-4, but thankfully Anna managed the break right at the end, so it was a real close one, but she's into the next round and it's all about getting that win!!

I hope from now on Gagliardi gets kept apart from Anna in draws, because she seems to really give Anna a hard time.

Anyway onto Amelie, which I think will probably be tomorrow, let's hope Anna can do it, I think she can do it, today was one of these days that you have to win even when you don't play great, which is really important for Anna. Good luck against Amelie, you can do it!!!

Wow, thanks for the break-down, Martin.

That was a little inconsistant, but you'd have to accredit some of that to Gagliardi.

I'm sure Anna will play her best against Mauresmo.

Good Luck Anna!

Not at all DG, it was torture following it on the scoreboard and the whole match remained in my mind!!

Anna will come good and show her best form tomorrow against Amelie, I always think Anna plays her best tennis when she's not expected to win, tomorrow could be a very good day for her.

Good luck Anna!!!!

Well not the result we all hoped for and Anna should have taken it to a final set after being 5-2 up in the 2nd, but never mind, Anna is still playing good tennis, she just isn't managing to beat the top 10 players, I think it's too early in her comeback for her to be doing that, in a few months time, she will beat these players.

An example of how Anna is doing ok, is seeing who has beaten her in her last 6 tournaments, including the last one of last year.

Luxembourg: Kim
Auckland: Smashnova
Sydney: Serena
Aus Open: Justine
Tokyo: Monica
Paris: Amelie

Apart from Auckland, it's all top 10 players she has lost to, and there is no disgrace in that, after all who does beat these players apart from other top 10 players?.

It just shows that Anna is playing good tennis and will be back very soon. Good luck for Doha next week, Anna!!!!

Yep, give Anna a little time, and she'll be beating the top ranked players.

Lets see how she goes at Doha. She can win this one.

Best of luck to you, Anna!
