A short writeup on Edda from the 1978 Concise Dictionary of Tennis, by Martin Hedges, page 47.
Born Novener 1936, Lovrin, Rumania, of German parents. Taught to play tennis by her father, a professinal, Edda Buding was a qualified beautician and was voted the most beautiful girl in tennis by players in Europe. She won the Argentine junior championships in 1952, aged 16, when she also won the Bavarian International Championships, and first played at Wimbledon in 1954. Reaching the third round, she gave Maureen Connolly her toughest match and took five games off the reigning champion before losing. She won the German singles title in 1959, the doubles in 1960 and mixed doubles in 1957, when she also won the Egyptian International Championships women doubles, playing with her sister Ilse.
