Champ talk

Here's the thread for all former champions of tennis to come in and recount their glory days, talk about other champs, and bask in the love of all the rest of us peons who love them.

Membership rules

1. you must have won a WTA tour title at some point in your career.
2. you must be retired. Martina Navratilova is exempt just cause I say so
3. you must have your name as the user name, otherwise we won't
believe you-hey we're not THAT gullible
4. Those with more than one user name will BOTH be accepted. We
realize that some champs have developed split personalities and
simply can't control themselves. That's OK-let it all hang out honey
5. Dissing other champs is accepted-within limits. Cat fights are
encouraged-just remember you are LADIES of the court.

Non-member rules

1. Any sort of questions are allowed. Please remember your place
though. These are tour veterans, goddesses with tennis shoes.
You are not really fit to shine their shoes. When you ask Pam Shriver
if she really had the smallest boobs on tour do so with TOTAL respect.

Other rules to be made up as we go along.

All former WTA champs please come in!

Well, it's only right that I start this one off. After all I AM women's tennis. Yup, it's not bigger than me, that's for sure. I'm bigger than the game. In fact, did any of you notice that I received an award at the ITF Champs dinner the other night in Paris? No, it wasn't biggest meal of the night, but some other thing to award people for achievements or something. And I have achieved a lot in my time. I have a hunger to achieve things. And I just have an enormous hunger.

If others must be invited into this thread to desecrate it, then at least I, the most important person in the world, have started it well.

The rest may tell me what a great champ I was and discuss all my titles. I'm off for a Big Mac.

I can join here, can't I? Well then, whilst we're focused on the French Open, any chance of discussing my title win there in 1976?

There are few British Slam winners as it is, so I think we should celebrate mine, here and now.

A big welcome to our first two champs-Billie Jean King and Sue Barker!
We bow before you

question for you ladies-did the Frenchies ever treat you two like they did Hingis in 99 or serena today? And what do you think of clay?

This is YOUR thread ladies-say what you want!

I have a question for BJK.

Why do you have Jen in your avatar?

LOL Gallofa BJK was "born again" in 1973 -the year she whipped old Bobby Riggs bahoolas in the Battle of the Sexes!

OK-really it was 1943.

Hello to all my fans!

As for your questions...the picture of Jen is because I adore her. I want her back on MY team and I'm sorry we had a falling out. It was a silly mistake really and I miss her. I love Jen. She's beautiful. One day...

My views on the French, well they're not American so I don't care for their Fed Cup team. I think that at times they can be quite boisterous and yesterday were a little out of order. And they ruined the run of American Slam winners. My time in Paris as a player was as expected. I hardly got to see the sights in my playing days, but I did take a trip or 2 to the Moulin Rouge to sample the night-life. Martina Nav always wanted to join Rosie and I but I didn't want her to cramp our style. Two's company and all that.

I've never been too much of a fan of clay - too slow for my liking. I much preferred playing on faster surfaces as my record at Wimbledon shows. I always found that because matches on clay went on for longer, I had more time to wait between meals once I got on court. Sometimes I wouldn't be able to get a Big Mac, or as they call it in France, 'Le Big Mac' for 2 hours. That was what drained me mentally. I had to be so strong. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that now.

All this reminiscing is making me hungry...

Urgh! I see the Burger King has been here recently.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say 'hello' to you all. I haven't got much time to spare. I'm anchoring the BBC coverage of the Derby tomorrow. I wanted to go to Paris, but they insist I do some stupid horse meeting thing.

Thank you Rollo for listing my achievements. I often feel that the British people aren't aware of what I've done. They just think I'm some dumb blonde who presents TV programmes. Whenever I get down about that I give my replica French Open trophy a wipe. That cheers me up.

I have very fond memories of Paris and of my time there. Of course, 1976 stands out for me. Only having the one Slam means that it is so very precious to me. 1976 was certainly the highlight of my career and one I have very vivid memories of. I often regret missed chances to win Wimbledon, but it wasn't to be. I'm fairly comfortable about it now. I have my life and it's great, apart from being ignored as a former Slam champ.

Pam's due to arrive in London soon - we have a round of golf booked. When she gets here, I'll ask her to pop in and share her views. Some of Pam's stories are hilarious.

Better go - I have to know the odds on the favourites by morning. Night!

Come back once you've had your fill Billie Jean! You're favorite season is here-grass and Wimbledon. Do you still love Wimby burgers? Does Britain even still have Wimby burgers?

Now why do you love Jen hun? Is it those horsey teeth or do you get off on her salty language?
