60 seconds in sport with leading American tennis player Jennifer Capriati

What event are you in training for at the moment?

Iím in the middle of the French Open at Roland Garros. In the build-up to the tournament I was in serious training for several weeks after the disappointment of losing in the first round of the Australian Open

My family, but especially my father, Stefano

Which athlete in your sport do you most admire?

Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras

And in any other sport?

Michael Jordan, because he has achieved so much

What event do you enjoy most in the sporting calendar?

Obviously all the Grand Slam events, but I prefer the US Open just because itís staged in my country

What other sports do you play?

I like football and I play a bit of ping-pong

What was the last book you bought?

A mystery novel

And the last CD?

It was the latest album from Eve, an American female rapper

Would you recommend a life of sport to your children?

Definitely. I think that sport is art and a way of expressing yourself. Itís also good to exert yourself physically

At what moment in your life did you realise you were going to make sport your career?

Iíve never known anything different, to be honest. I knew tennis in the womb, probably even before I was born

What food or drink do you most miss when in training?

I love French fries, but I canít eat them now

What is your favourite TV programme?

Friends

What would you like to do once your sporting career comes to an end?

Some normal stuff ó for instance, I would like to have a family

What is the pinnacle of your sporting achievement to date?

Winning a gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, and, of course, my three Grand Slam titles ó two Australian Open victories and one at the French

Are todayís sportsmen overpaid?

I think that the baseball and basketball players who just sit on the bench and donít do anything get too much money

What car do you drive?

I have a Ferrari, but I donít drive it much

Do you have a nickname?

Not that I know of

What bugs you most about being famous?

Dealing with the press is the bit I donít look forward to

What do you enjoy most about being famous?

Cutting in line ó itís fun always being the first to get anything

Whatís your favourite piece of sporting memorabilia?

My gold medal

If your house was on fire, what one item would you take with you as you dashed to safety?

My family. I wouldnít worry about anything else

"Friends" is her fav TV show. Is Jenn still with Mathew Perry? I haven't heard anything about the two of them for a while. Tough loss today Jenn, you'll be back on top real soon.
