Unhappy Martina ranked 7?!

Hi there Hingis fans!

When I checked the WTA rankings today, I found out that Martina has dropped to place 7.
I guess for some of you this is no surprise, but for me it was... a bit of a shock actually.

I hope she will not fall any further down the list; somehow I believe she will come back! And if she does... she'll be stronger and better then ever!

Greetings to all Hingis fans!

At this point in time, I think Martina's health is more important than her ranking, even though we are not used to her being this low in the rankings. Don't sweat it. Martina will rise again like she always does. That's what a true champion does.

Godspeed Martina's return!

Before you read anything below, this is not trying to be pessimistic, this is pure mathematic calculations and forecasts.

Martina will be #8 after Rome because she's losing 182 points from last year and Henin is losing 0 points so she'll move ahead of Martina for #7. Dokic will also be losing 373 points from last year. So even if Dokic wins Rome, she will not pass Martina and will remain at #9.

This means Martina will most likely be the lucky #7 seed at the French Open.

So far this year Martina has accumulated 1994 points. If she were to (God forbid) miss the rest of the year, she would still finish at about #11 or so.

I think a rank within the top 10 isn't low, of course it's lower then we are used to.

It's scary to see Marti's ranking down so low, but remember this everyone, she is #1 in terms of points for this year and that is despite playing only 7 events so far, she is ahead of everyone, including Venus, Jennifer, so don't panic too much. She doesn't have too many points to defend for the rest of the year, only really at RG and US Open, it's only temporary she's that low in the rankings.

I thought Martina would drop to #4 when she withdrew from the German Open. I was shocked to see that she dropped to #7! I didn't know she joined the Italian Open last year. More points to shed. But now, this news about her skipping the French Open. How far down will she drop, if so? Didn't she get to the semis at Roland Garros last year? I can't imagine how low her ranking will be if she skips the French Open. If she's well enough to get to and stay deep in the tournament at Wimbledon, she may recover some points.

But it's her injury that bothers me more. It's always her foot. One news says its is a stretched ligament. Another says it is a torn muscle. Poor Martina. She doesn't need an injury when she has to battle power players left and right. I hope the injury can be fixed for good. Otherwise, Martina may retire. Champion, interrupted.

No offense free, but don't come in here bouncing about Justine going above Marti in the rankings. This is for fans of Martina.
