Frankie hits a double handed backhand in one of these pics!!!! But this is no ordinary double handed backhand - check out how loose and camp she holds the racket! I love it !!!

Perhaps the most beautiful Durr photo I have ... I think she looks great here

And what a follow through after a backhand!

And yes, very feminine and graceful. Guess I also love the feminine ones a lot too - like Goolagong, Evert & Durr . Are you the same in that regards - I mean did you have a preference for the feminine women players?
hi TV,

i spend my whole life thinking out of the box, but when it comes to chicks, i am the first one constructing the box. i like girlie girls who revel in their pink satin ribbons...while also being forceful and confident...whether on or off court. i dated a lesbian once...and even she was ridiculously feminine. but man, what a right hook!

Wow! Frankie's strokes are very unorthodox indeed. But that's okay. Variety is the spice of life! I especially loved the picture of her in the Tinling outfit that included shorts. I've never seen her play. But I bet she was fun to watch. Good stuff!

Hi HanaFan! Yes, Frankie was fun to watch coz she also had a bit of temper and she used to swear in French and hit herself with her racket, stomp her feet, hands on hips and all that.

Here's another pic to keep the thread going - Durr in full flight at the net as she hits a backhand volley!

"Frankie's one of the best doubles players in the world. Playing with her is like being on a Saturday morning children's show. I love to watch her hitting crazy winners with her mongrel set of strokes. For a low backhand, her bottom nearly touches the ground. When I serve I always get the biggest kick out of watching her protract the acutest angles with her frying pan grip. If things go wrong too often she reverts to swearing with such a strong Gallic accent that it is barely understandable. "Noooo... You idyot... watch za bawll!" as she clouts the top of her head with her racquet. Then she sees me laughing and her fury evaporates into a seraphic smile."- VIRGINIA WADE

There is nothing more beautiful than Evonne Goolagong in full flight moving across a tennis court.

Here's a photo of Frankie's backhand that I took myself while watching her and Betty in the Legends at Wimbledon in the 90s. It really shows off the soup ladle style to perfection:

Love that quote Alfa!

Frankie told me that out of all her doubles partners that she found Ginny the hardest to get to know and be close with. She said she really kept to herself and didn't give much away. Plus Durr & Wade had a pretty intense singles rivalry so there was no love lost on the court between them. You can see this when you watch the video of the 73 Wimbledon singles clash when Ginny beats Frankie 7-5 in the 3rd set in a memorable clash.

I posted this one in the "Pics of You" thread but it probably also belongs here as it features Frankie and her twin (me) at her place in Wimbledon Village about 12 years back (yes, when I had hair)

And a very happy Frankie Durr after winning her 2nd USO Doubles title - this time with one of her favourite doubles partners, Betty Stove

Here's a pic that I took of Frankie, her husband Boyd, and Gail Chanfreau at their place in Wimbledon village some years back. They are in the kitchen preparing dinner - I had a video of Frankie's Wimbledon Mixed Doubles victory in 1976 with me and they hadn't seen it before. So after dinner we sat back and watched the match much to their glee. Boyd was the most excited as he just adores Frankie so much - and he gave a running commentary throughout the match - always complimenting Frankie. How sweet.
