Hey Craig - Great picsd... God Betty Stove hasn't changed one little bit.... Interesting to see that both Durr and Richey have been dominated this year - does only one of them get in? I would certainly fancy Richey's chances as she had a pretty good Grand Slam record with 2 slam wins and a few finals...

Look forward to meeting up in Sydney soon

Now that I finally know how to load pictures into the posts I thought I would update this thread and add just one or two more pics.

I love this stunning pick which captures the Durr backhand at it's best:

And here is another one that one of you guys sent me a short time ago:

TennisVideos: I love this thread and am amazed I've never actually seen it before; thanks for bumping it.... What wonderful photography indeed! Personally, I really dig some of her slightly off-kilter, amusing quotes. Without the unorthodox amongst us, how dreary and tedious this life might be! Should you or anyone ever assemble a website for this great player, I would hope they'd include her wicked spin of an ace past Kristen Kemmer Shaw during World Team Tennis*...too funny!

*Likely available on chrisevert.net/

Yes, I love the unorthodox as well ... have always gravitated to them for some strange reason. Beverly Baker-Fleitz is another that astonished me with her 2 forehands and not a backhand in site. I actually have about 12 minutes of her in the Wimbledon Final when she lost to Brough and she was amazing.

Yes, that ace over Kemmer is funny! i have another classic on video that I actually filmed myself in the Vets doubles at Wimbledon. She aced Rosie and Rosie screams out something in horror like "that's hideous" and got the crowd laughing. The funny thing was that Frankie just walked up for her next service as though it wasn't nothing out of the ordinary - and yet it was probably her first ace in 20 years!

Many More to Come!

The only Frankie pic I have scanned (so far):

There is nothing more beautiful than Evonne Goolagong in full flight moving across a tennis court.

No turning back now. I've only just begun to dust off the shelves. I only wish I could borrow some of those old WorldTennis magazines I sent to Andy last year (or at least convince him to scan and share some of those gems)- tons of photos you can't find any more, and since the magazine is defunct (and they still owe me a year's subscription)- no copyright infringements to deal with!

Thanks Alfa!!! This is one of my all time favourite Durr pics. You can just see the beauty and balance in this backhand and Frankie looks fantastic! The best haircut she ever sported ... although I also loved her in ponytail and ribbon! And check out those legs!

I must get hold of a scanner and post some more pics as well. I have some more classics of Durr and of course I have 1000s of those old World Tennis magazines as well from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Such a treasure trove as you have suggested Alfa.

Hi Daze

You know, I think she's beautiful too, in an unusual way.

And yes, very feminine and graceful. Guess I also love the feminine ones a lot too - like Goolagong, Evert & Durr . Are you the same in that regards - I mean did you have a preference for the feminine women players?
