I think no matter what happens, if Jenn doesn't play another match this year, we can look at it as a success.
after learning that Jenn's back injury at the start of the year could threaten to cut her career short, i was very worried and very unsure of what 2004 would hold for Jenn, but like always Jenn has proven everyone wrong. yes, Jenn may not have won any tournments this year, but i actually think Jenn did more this year than in 2003. look what Jenn has done this year...
she finally got over the hump of beating Serena again, beating her 3 of 4 times this year is pretty good. and in all of those wins, Jenn didn't faulter, she kept on holding serve and didn't let her leads slip away (well maybe in Rome, but she still won in straight sets). after a pretty poor start of the year in the middle east and at the Nasdaqq, Jenn really pulled her season together in Germany and Rome. she also made 2 grand slam semis, and another quarter. pretty good for not playing the aussie.
this year Jenn also showed she wants to get better, and still is planning to improve her game by searching for new coaches. Jenn as showed she has matured alot this year as well. i really think Jenn's serve has also gotten better this year. Jenn also got over losing so many 3 set matches. there were so many 3 set losses last year, Jenn was much better in 3 sets this year.
yes Jenn could have done more this year, she probally should have won Rome, the French, and the US Open; but some things aren't meant to be. i'm really looking forward to 2005, Jenn wasn't 100% this year, so hopfully during the off season Jenn will get fitter and back to 100%. i can't wait to see what 2005 has in store for Jenn.
what do you guys think, sorry this is so long. i love Jenn too.
