Jenn's year

I think no matter what happens, if Jenn doesn't play another match this year, we can look at it as a success.

after learning that Jenn's back injury at the start of the year could threaten to cut her career short, i was very worried and very unsure of what 2004 would hold for Jenn, but like always Jenn has proven everyone wrong. yes, Jenn may not have won any tournments this year, but i actually think Jenn did more this year than in 2003. look what Jenn has done this year...

she finally got over the hump of beating Serena again, beating her 3 of 4 times this year is pretty good. and in all of those wins, Jenn didn't faulter, she kept on holding serve and didn't let her leads slip away (well maybe in Rome, but she still won in straight sets). after a pretty poor start of the year in the middle east and at the Nasdaqq, Jenn really pulled her season together in Germany and Rome. she also made 2 grand slam semis, and another quarter. pretty good for not playing the aussie.

this year Jenn also showed she wants to get better, and still is planning to improve her game by searching for new coaches. Jenn as showed she has matured alot this year as well. i really think Jenn's serve has also gotten better this year. Jenn also got over losing so many 3 set matches. there were so many 3 set losses last year, Jenn was much better in 3 sets this year.

yes Jenn could have done more this year, she probally should have won Rome, the French, and the US Open; but some things aren't meant to be. i'm really looking forward to 2005, Jenn wasn't 100% this year, so hopfully during the off season Jenn will get fitter and back to 100%. i can't wait to see what 2005 has in store for Jenn.

what do you guys think, sorry this is so long. i love Jenn too.

Totally agree. I'm not going to say too much, but considering that Jen never managed to string too many tournaments together this year, she's not done THAT badly. Fact, when she did string matches together, on the clay, she put some great results on the board.

She's been hampered by a lack of matches this year and that stems from the back injury, which I suspect was responsible for the hamstring problem more recently. And when we consider how bad this injury is, and may still be, just to play is a bonus.

Sure, she had chances to win big this year and yes, at times, she failed badly. But in the context of all she had to face, maybe this was understandable.

A lot of players have had stop-start years and maybe Jen's missed a chance to capitalise on that, but she's not been in a position to do that due to her season.

Roll on 2005!

Both of you are absolutely right!!! I couldn't agree more. Jen had a very positive year and she wasn't even 100%. Therefore, if Jen stays healthy and fit, 2005 is definately going to be "The Year". Man, I am excited for it now. Good luck Jen!!!!!!!!!!

Jennifer Capriati!!!!

Proud to be one of Jen's Hell's Angels!

Look at the amount of tournies played
Davenport & Momo 16
Nastya 20
Sveta and Lena D 21
Juju and Serena 10 (very good ranking for tournies played)
Sharapova 19 (I'm sure that's against the rules)
Jen 12
Venus 14
Kim 8
Vera and Nadia 24
Ai 25
Jen's had a good successful year and a great ranking considering almost everyone ranked above her's played in some cases almost double the tournies.

Poppy thinks 2004 was alright
Again it was a rollercoaster ride
But then it always is with Jen
That is why she is our gem

The best is yet to come
Bring all the trophies home
You can really do it, Jen girl
You're the best in the world
