Jen Featured on the Cover of Tennis Mag this month!!!

Got my tennis mag today in the mail and there was Jen on the cover! "Jennifer Capriati: On What Keeps Her Fighting" It is a pretty good article (too long to retype here) The parts I like best in it are about her fighting spirit and the impact she has left on the game in her career, Also the quotes from coaches and other players are interesting...... The stuff about her off court life is amazing.... she writes essays to herself about her most personal concerns... (I thought that was cool) and that she is reading up on the history of Buddhism and the life of the Dalai Lama.

The best is a quote from Jen that I think just sums her up
"I get on a mission to prove myself. As soon as people write me off...I'm like 'I'll show you.'"

The only part I dont like in the article is the tone in it that time is running out, and that this years USO was her last, best chance to win that trophy. Didnt they say the same thing last year???

When I think about this year for Jen (2004) I think it is remarkable that she was in 2 Slam SFs and 1 slam QF, given her major back injury and the thigh injury. She was at 80% physically this year, and she still had decent results. Like Jen said, imagine if she is back at 100% (which I believe is her goal for 2005).... I think she will win a couple more majors!

Go check out this article, you'll love it!!!

I think that if Jennifer is 100% physically and mentally she is unbeatable. I think a good year for Jennifer next year would be to win a major (US Open?). Or maybe she can make it back to the top five where she belongs.

That was so cool for her to be on the cover, but you are so right they have a very negative tone about her career. I don't like all of it but there were some really good parts too!!

Oh I know!!! I got the magazine and and when i saw it was Jen i screamed i was so excited. She is just so cool. The article was very good and i was getting teary eyed at some parts of it. But yeah, the tone that her time is up was pissing me off .

Anyways, she is back and ready to play and be the threat that she always is. Everyone better watch their backs cuz here comes Jen!!!!!!!!!! 2005 is her year and i dont care what anyone says because she is going to kick ass and win titles and most importantly grand slams!!! Go Jen!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up about the magazine. It's really annoying when people start to write Jen off when she's proven people wrong so many times. As long as Jen has the desire, she can do anything!

"I resolve to get arrested for indecent exposure," Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe on 24).

Exactly! Besides,Jen ain't an old woman! Throughout the history of the game there have been many players who were older than Jenny that have won majors and were ranked in the top 10. I think we still have three or four years of great tennis to look forward to from our favorite gal!

Yes, it is the November/December issue. www.tennis.com is always about a week behind in updating their site in comparison to when the mag reaches subscribers' mailboxes. I think the subs get the mag before it is on the newsstands......

Sure, no problem......

Davenport: "She's the first player I remember seeing hit the ball hard, shot after shot, from both sides."

Dementieva: "She has very strong arms. She has power."

Sugiyama: "She seems like a big girl, but she's a lot quicker than you think."

Schett: "She loves fun. She's fun to be around. You know, movies, dancing, going to a club."

Petrova: "She has a great feeling for tennis. She knows the game so well."

Petrova: "She's a very sweet person, but she has her strange things. She can be in her own little world." --- I thought this one was a little strange, but Jen does go it alone, so who knows......

from Serena: there is a partial quote in which Serena calls their rivarly "perhaps the best in women's tennis."

From coaches and others.....

Harold Solomon, Jen's coach in '99 and '00:
"When she believes in herself, when she puts the work in both on and off the court, she can be unbelievable."
"She just keeps coming back. It's a shame that she's had to do that as opposed to being able to maintain, but it makes for great drama."
"Jennifer always has problems with those last 5 pounds. I don't think she has been fit-really fit-in several years."
"It's always been, with her, 'I've got the game, I don't really want to mess with it.'"
"She's convinced that if she's in good shape, and playing her hardest, she can play with anyone. And she can. She's one of the great fighters. She fights her guts out."
"When I was coaching her, she was reading some pretty heavy-duty philosophy. I was suprised. It was like...Nietzsche on airplanes."

Kevin O'Connor, head of tennis at Florida's Saddlebrook Resort (Jen's home)
"Jennifer is the best striker of the ball in tennis, period."
