Martina beats Amanda...but its been a great week!

Amanda was beaten quite easily yeterday by Martina Hingis. my other fave, so it was kinda bitter sweet ...but there are many positives to this tournament for Amanda. She finally strung a few wins together, beating three players who are far more powerful than her and who are considered to be "on the rise". She saved two match points against Marrero, and then rallied back from a breaks defecit in the thrid set to beat Stevenson, who has been one of the big surpises on tour so far this year.

We can certainly say that the "old, fighting, dogged, run everything down at any cost Amand Coetzer" is nearing her best. She really inspired me this week with how well she fought out those matches. Hopefully she can continue this form in Miami, and she is peaking at the right time for the clay season because she has many points to defend.

Hopefully this week will give her confidence to get out of this slump

Congrats on a great week Amanda, your best performance so far this year....and good luck in Miami!!!!

even martina said that amanda played very well ...she said that it was a greta match from her and that she herself had to raise her level. Here is the excerpt:

Q. Were you expecting it to be a little tougher today than it turned out to be?
MARTINA HINGIS: I think she played one of her best matches in a long time. She had a great tournament so far. I really had to play well. That's what I did. I'm very pleased with that. She definitely lifted her level since we last time played in Australia. But me, too.

Very nice post, Rob
You are coming close to what my feelings are too

Indeed a nice tournament for Amanda, and the most important is IMO that she showed that she's still a fighter!

What would you say if we could make
something amazing
