Youngest slam SF ever?

16 years old Seles vs 14 years old Capriati, French Open SF, 1990... 30 years old combined...

Re: Youngest slam SF ever?

These two had the potential for such a great rivalry, as it is they played some great matches, but it could've been so much better had both of them not lost signifcant portions of their careers to outside issues.

That's what she said!!!

So right Pammy. Goes to show us that we better enjoy what we have in the moment, as you never know.

Re: Youngest slam SF ever?

As for setting a record for "youngest semifinal" combined age-I can't think of a younger semi.

Saying that I confess that Capriati seemed to be ahem "mature" for a 14 year old.

Another young semi was Andrea Jaeger vs Hana Mandlikova at the 1980 US Open. At the time they looked set to possibly push old ladies Evert and Navratilova out the door to challenge Tracy Austin. Who would have guessed!

I've also posted a video of 16 years old Mary Pierce in her forum facing Sabatini in an early round. The quality is blurred but it's cute.
