Off topic Graf-Seles

From today I will be deleting petty Graf-Seles fighting and/or off topic posts.
If anyone thinks this is grossly unfair please feel free to say so in this thread.
If a majority feel I'm being a dictator on this I'll back off, but as long as I'm a mod here this small corner of the board won't become a playpen for kids like GM.

If a thread is devoted to the endless Seles-Graf debate, AND has a thread title
saying so, I will not touch it.

I think it's a good idea. I know I always end up in these discussions too so I am responsable for the mess too, but I think it's really time to move on (doesn't that sound like a real addict? )

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

Good idea. Please start by deleting all of Calimero's posts that a) bash any other player except for Graf and b) are off topic, that will be c) about 95% of his messages.

Typical that it's called "Graf-Seles" and not "Seles-Graf".

I have a feeling this thread will also become a Graf/Seles debate.

I totally approve. This has proved petty, disrepectful and totally uninteresting.

Excellent decision. Too bad it had to reach this point.

You have my support. Thanks for the great job you do, Rollo!

There is nothing more beautiful than Evonne Goolagong in full flight moving across a tennis court.

Yes, Rollo, that's a good idea!
Too much free speech only leads to chaos. I'm glad that we'll have a mod who decides what is "petty" for us. So I don't have to choose for myself whether I read those post or not. And if a majority backs you, you are no way a "dictator"!

But could you tell us what will be allowed in the future?

1) Is it OK to separate "first-tier" and "second-tier" greats?
2) If so, is it OK to classify Monica Seles as a "second-tier great"?
3) If no, where may I draw the line between a "second-tier" and a "first-tier" great?
4) Can I still point out that Seles never won in Wimbledon?
5) Or at least that she was beaten like a drum by Graf there in 92?
6) Or is "beaten like a drum" not OK?
7) Is calling Graf's performance in 90/92 a "slump" a politically incorrect denigration of another player?
8) Is it still allowed to name Robert1 "dumbo" in a Graf/Seles fight? Or at least when we discuss other topics?
9) Is citing stats still OK? When are numbers denigrating player's achievements (eg. "Seles won no slam post-Jan96")?
10) May I still wear my Steffi Graf T-shirt when posting? What about my screen saver? If that is forbidden how to you monitor that?

I don't think its hard to undestand........if you want a Graf/Seles argument then do so within a Graf/Seles thread. That's more than fair.
