Wimbledon official films

Here's a list of 30 Wimbledon official films on YouTube (updated last January): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...UNHT235MObd0wD

It goes from 1971 to 2015 but does miss a bunch of years (72, 76-79, 82-85, 91, 93, 98, 2003, 2013, 2014 and 2016).

Two others are absent from the list as they were added on YT separately after (respectively in April and June of this year): 1980 and 1981.

You can find 1980 here: https://www.tennisforum.com/59-blast-...on-1980-a.html

And here's 1981

Re: Wimbledon official films

Random thoughts watching 1981...

Sue Barker gets my vote for #1 in the cute and cuddly department.

How nice of John Lloyd to lose early so Chris could get on with her singles and we can see more of her and less of John in this film.

Kathy Rinaldi was, at 14, the youngest female to compete in quite a while and the youngest to win a match, but the official film is wrong in labeling her the youngest ever to compete. That distinction goes to Austrian Mita Klima, a mere 11 when she played Wimbledon in the early 1900s!

1981 was the first time a woman umpired a match on Centre Court-wow. About time.

Would love to the full Austin/Shriver quarterfinal. Those two did NOT like each other. Notice how lame Tracy's handshake is at about 12:30-and how quickly she gets away afterwards. Only weeks later Austin got revenge in Canada and Pam made her cry by cussing at her during the handshake-LOL.

On the men side, I think Borg and Connors may have played their best match against each other in that SF, at least in a slam.

Re: Wimbledon official films

It's a little bit offtopic according to the official films.
But I was wondering during this years Championships where and why did the Wimlbedon logo with the 'W' disappear?
Anyone knows anything? Was it mentioned somewhere?

My apology Tommystar-what does the old logo look like?

Is the logo below the new one?

Is there no Wimbledon film for the years not listed?

Re: Wimbledon official films

There is the other logo with the 2 tennis rackets.

In many decades since I've been following tennis from the early 90es, the 2 logos were used parallel, I only recognized this year that the one with the 'W' is totally disappeared. Even which was on the background on the centre court were changed the the 2-tennis-tacket-one.

That behind Federer used to be the W-logo.

Even the old scoreboard had both logos on the top:

and the new scoreboard also had both logos on it:
