Yeah not too good is it? . I think a combination of things for Anna, first of all the neck injury, I think that must have something to do with it but also have to look at her schedule. To go from the slow clay to the very quick courts of Indian Wells in a matter of days is asking too much, and I just wish she hadn't played Acapulco because this tournament was massive for her, a huge chance for a run and also ranking points to help towards seedings in the green clay season in a few weeks.

One thing about Anna though, she'll be back, I've learned that over the years

Indian Wells isn't for everyone. Anna has never played well there. I'm sure she's not 100% physically healthy. And it's a tough adjustment to go from slow red clay to hard hardcourts.

But anyway you slice it or topspin it, Anna was beaten by Lilia Osterloh, a player who had lost 4 consecutive matches. And that's something to be worried about, where Anna K. is concerned. Udachi Anna!

Have to agree with you Cat, looking back at Anna's Indian Wells record it's not too good and with her not playing doubles now, it gives her a good 10 day break now, which she badly needs.

It would have been a real boost for her ranking with a good run here, but this tournament isn't as crucial towards rankings as it is for the ATP, so maybe this was a good thing getting knocked out early, just because it gives her the rest.

As always you have to have one more throw of that dice.
losing is what makes winning so sweet so just think how sweet the first tourney will be

Yeah very true Scott!!

Not sure when that win is going to come, it's not going to happen for a few months yet, because Anna's not really coping mentally back being in tennis, in sort of big match situations, I think she said that herself after the Osterloh match.
This year was always going to be a slow year though and the main aim for this year is just trying to get back in the top 20, although a title would be brilliant.

Be patient and it will come how patient we have to be i think will probably be very very patient but as you said a slow year lies ahead, i will be happy with some good showings in tourneys and a ranking boost, because i know that the big one will come when it is time.

Oh such a hangover i have. vodka rules! (waking up face down in a strange house doesnt!)
