When did you first see Sandrine play?

The first time I saw her play was way back in 1990 when Eurosport covered her 1st round match against the 14 year old Capriati in the French Open. Sandrine lost 6-1 6-1 but I remember feeling the score didn't do her justice. She hit a great ball even then but she wasn't so athletic in those days and needed to get in better shape. I thought she would be pretty good but back then I didn't expect her to transform herself into the longterm top 20 member that she has become.

The first time I saw her play on TV was at the 1994 Australian Open against Steffi Graf, which she lost but I cant remember the score, 26 26? I had heard of her before but never seen her play. After this I followed her results whenever/wherever I could but I didnt really become a fan as such until US Open 1997 when she lost to Venus in the QF! She had beaten my Iva in the second round of that very same event, but I soon forgave her

It was around 97 when Sandrine lifted to another level, after languishing around the Top 50 for a few years.

I first saw Sandrine on TV in 1996 US Open Fourth Round against Monica. I didn't know much about her and neither did the crowd but they and I quickly took notice. She began the match by hitting winners from all over the court and I remember the crowd gasping. I became enchanted by her fiery spirit and I could just tell by her expressions that she was a very intense competitor. She won my heart even though Monica steamrolled her in the second set. Final score was 7-5, 6-0.

As many of you already know, the first and only time I saw Sandrine play in person was in September at the US Open with my pal Nicolas. It was an experience I will never forget - she was so gracious. I saw every one of her matches, singles and doubles, although I missed most of the first set of the Gala match (Nicolas can explain). I managed to sneak out of work the second week to catch her doubles quarter and semi-final matches.

I'm planning a trip to Paris in May to watch her play the French Open for perhaps the last time.

I want to go to the French Open!

I don't remember when I first saw her play but it was a LONG time ago. Very early 90s I believe.

i wasn't a big tennis fan until last summer. after the summer (well, i guess during) my friend took my to the 2001 US Open. it was amazing just being there - considering i was a new fan and all. so, anyway, if anyone was there, u know that there was an air-conditioned area for lincoln (? some car company) so we went inside b/c it was 200 degrees (well, not really, but...) and we wanted to cool off b4 a match. and we walked around and they were giving a FREE clinic w/ SANDRINE TESTUD!!!! it was amazing. she was there and she let me take my picture w/ her and my friend (which i still have and im really excited about) and then, as if that wasnt enough, she let me hit w/ her in the clinic (not just me, but everyone in the clinic). she was so nice about it and since then ive been cheering her on!!!! i got to watch her play the next day in her 1st rd. match and i dont know who she played but she crushed them! it was amazing! ive really liked sandrine ever since then!!!!

yay sandrine!

I first saw her play at Amelia Island 2000 - she was up against Patty Schnyder (when she was still a moderately formidable competitor) and although it was great to see her in person, it was clear that something was amiss that day.
From the moment she stepped on the court you could tell that she was either not feeling well, wasn't there mentally at all, or simply wasn't up to playing Patty on clay. I think she lost something like 5-7,2-6 but felt so bad (and so did the crowd) the whole time because between every point, she just looked miserable.
I hope she comes back this year (i noticed someone hinting that she would be at Charleston) , as it's the one tournament I go to every year (asides from two challengers near where i live). I'm dying to see her play again, this time in better spirits!
