I think that as a Top 10 junior player and one of the most promising Spanish youngsters she deserves her own thread now. :D

She's just 17 (born Nov 15, 1997 in NYC), currently #10 but with a CHR of 9 in juniors, and #422 at the WTA (CHR of 366). :)

She's an IMG girl, her listed residence is Begur in Spain, listed coaches are Pancho Alvariño & Sergio Gallego and apparentky she trains at the Tenisval base.

She's won 2 tournaments so far this year: G1 Mediterranee Avenir in Marocco as a qualifier (beat (2)Sandra Samir 4 & 4 in the final) & G1 Trofeo Juan Carlos Ferrero in Spain (she was seed 14 and beat (3)Ioana Rosca 4 & 4 in the final). :yeah:

She also has 2 junior finals this year: at G2 Torneo Junior ITF Benicarlo in Spain (she was unseed and lost to top seed Ioana Rosca in the final, 6-0 1-6 3-6 :sobbing:) and at G1 European Junior Championships (she was seed 5 and lost to unseeded Sara Sorribes Tormo in the final, 4 & 1).

She's had mixed success at junior Slams: didn't play AO, reached QF at RG & Wimbledon (she was unseeded at RG, and lost to (10)Françoise Abanda, 7-5 5-7 3-6 in QF; at Wimbly she was unseeded as well and lost 3 & 2 to (12)Marketa Vondrousova in QF) and R1 at the USO (she was seed 8 at lost to (Q)Tereza Mihalikova, 4-6 6-3 1-6 in R1 :().

Since the USO, she's been playing only pro tournaments with the following results: qualified at 25K Shrewsbury but lost in R1 (to (Q)Amy Bowtell, 2 & 1), lost in 50K Monterrey qualies, qualified for 50K Tampico and reached R2 :yeah: (beat Catalina Pella 1 & 4 in R1 and lost to (6)Julia Glushko 4 & 2 in R2), final at 25K Victoria (she beat Emma Flood 1 & 3 in R1, (5)Patricia Tig 7-5 6-2 in R2, (3)Alexandra Cadantu 6-4 1-6 6-1 in QF, (2)Heidi El Tabakh 7-5 6-3 in SF before losing to (6)Diana Marcinkevica 7-6(2) 3-6 1-6 in the final ), and then she qualified for 25K Sharm el Sheikh but lost in R1 (to (2)Laura Siegemund, 1-6 6-2 4-6).

Dunno what her next plans are, probably Eddie Herr and/or Orange Bowl soon. Anyways, GL to her! :bounce: :)

Won 3 & 3.

I like her style, even though I wonder why she was playing this (she hasn't played juniors since USO last year).

Still congrats to her :)

She played very few tournaments this year because she is making changes in her game.
This is the last big junior tournament she is going to play (she was going to play Wimbledon but she changed her mind). Winning a big junior tournament open some doors, and of course it's somthing that look nice in your curriculum, but now she wants to focus on pro tour, her objective is to be in the qualification rounds in the Australian Open
