She had to retire at 16 02 vs Miharu Imanishi (JPN) in R1 at a 25,000$ event in Hong Kong in January while she also lost her 1st round matches in Anning at the 15,000$ level twice vs Wushuang Zheng (CHN) 46 16 and 06 67(5) in September. She played Fed Cup for Hong Kong as well where she won her singles match 62 63 over Emily Fanning (NZL). At the Junior level where she is currently ranked at position # 30 she lost 06 36 vs Emma Navarro (USA) in R1 at the US Open but won a J1 event in Nanjing in August 61 10 ret over Priska Madelyn Nugroho (INA) and reached the R16 in Wimbledon after wins over Anastasia Tikhonova (RUS) and Ana Mintegi del Olmo (ESP) losing 26 36 vs Diane Parry (FRA).

In June she won a J2 and a J4 event in China 62 63 over Mai Napatt Nirundorn (THA) and 62 60 ver Anastasia Astakhova (KAZ).

Julia claims a second career title more than 4 years after winning her maiden title in Greece. It was her first final since June 2018 when she had lost 26 67(5) vs Dasha Lopatetskaya (UKR) in Antalya. In 2019 she was mostly palying at the 15,000$ level in Turkey and Tunisia. Before the final she had only reached the QF twice this season in Tabarka. At the 25,000$ level she qualified in Aschaffenburg losing 46 36 vs Katharina Gerlach (GER) in R1. In El Espinar she lost 61 46 5-10 vs Almudena Sanz-Llaneza Fernandez (ESP) in QR2 and in Leipzig she lost 57 67(5) vs Cristina Dinu (ROU) in QR1. At the 60,000$ level in Hechingen in August she beat Romy Kölzer (GER) 46 63 10-8 in QR1 but lost 26 36 vs Anna Gabric (GER). In Les Franqueses del Valles she lost 76(5) 46 4-10 vs Claudia Hoste Ferrer (ESP) in QR1 in April.

In Wimbledon she had lost 57 62 68 vs Daria Frayman (RUS) in R1 and in Roland Garros 36 06 vs Elsa Jacquemot (FRA) in R1.
