Notes
The traditional home of the tournament was indoors at the Oakland Colosseum. In 72 and 73 the slot was taken by the "British Motor Cars" sponsored event in san Francisco.
In 1978 the Slims finals were held at Oakland, so no regular tour event took place there.
1997 the tournament was held outdoors (HC) in Stanford for the first time.

...and she almost made it 6 just weeks before her retirement in 94 when she lost 7-5 in the third set breaker to reigning French and US Champ ASV. Dammit!

Venus has a big losing record here vs Linday, but she played incredible in winning in 2000 vs her. I remember watching that match 5 years ago on tv, remember like it was yesterday, Venus wore a red and yellow outfit, and she was confident from her Wimby victory, all her strokes were so hard nad her movement then was the BEST ever.

lindsay and venus will be the top two seeds, so kim will have to try to be the spoiler based on what side of the draw she is in.
i'll bet:
kim would rather be on lindsay's side of the draw;
lindsay would rather have kim on venus' side of the draw;
so, lindsay will want to run from kim and kim will want to run from venus and venus will be hoping not to beat herself.
