Search will be turned off during peak hours and more important tournaments to help with performance.

Ugh - Ill have to accept it, no doubt. But the search function is a feature I use considerably more often than once a week - or once a day, even. It's a feature that has a clear function and is very useful on a message-board, not like avatars, or reputation...

I already found it very annoying that there were all those restrictions, like only 1 search in 120 seconds; like the standard search method being "search by threads" (absolutely useless) instead of "search by posts"; like only a meager 150 posts being showed...

That used to be different. Quite often I want to look up what a particular poster has said again about a certain thing... maybe a month ago. For most posters 150 posts are not gonna find it. (For some 150 posts only cover a few days!) Or I remember a certain subject being discussed: I could search for that subject, then go to the time-period I had in mind and find my target that way. Again, 150 posts aren't gonna cut it.

I very, very, very much regret this.
Can't we have a vote about this?
Please?

I know about the "advanced mode", 'Becca - but most of the features there don't work. Take the option to "save your search preferences", for instance - a beautiful option which makes it understandable why you wouldn't want to see all those so-called "advanced" options every time... but IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING. (Not for me, anyway.) So now you always have to open "advanced mode" first before you can check the "search by post" (which is a step more than before, and no gain in sight)... and if you forget that (or you made another little mistake) you have to wait for two whole slow minutes (used to be one... and that was long!) before you can correct your mistake... it's aaarghhh!

And why only 150 results ? You can choose between so many time-frames, but it's absolutely useless, since you'll never get more than 150 results anyway... and that really is not much. Say you search for posts from a year ago, you'll still only get the same boring last 150 posts. Enraging!

Look - if the search-function isn't used much, it won't matter if it's fully functional and stays so all the time.

If it IS used much, however - as I suppose it must be: why else disabling it at the peak moments? - diminishing it's usefulness and disabling it when most needed (at those peak moments, of course) changes it only into a source of continuous frustration.
Better not to have a search function at all then: this is like unreachable temptation...

Please, dear webmasters and -mistresses, please reconsider...

Gosh really?!

I actually meant what Lynx is talking about, I often forget to change 'view as threads' to 'view as posts' and then have to wait for 2 mins to do the search correctly. Nor am I that good at remembering exactly when the post I was was written, especially as, if you're looking for something quite popular, 150 posts covers about a day.

So, erm... stupid, but not THAT stupid!

I love the search function, and whenever I go to use it, it is disabled.

It seems like the find all posts and threads function has been disabled, too. Those functions were convenient to have.
