Can You Please Clear Something Up?

when i read the announcement, i thought that it was only prohibited to post pictures from that one site. but now, i keep reading things and hearing things from other people that say that we aren't allowed to post ANY pictures whatsoever. is that true?

this is what i posted in the other topic, you can read the full discussion here: http://www.wtaworld.com/showthread.p...threadid=53181

Quote:
The policy has always been that if you don't own the copyright to images you shouldn't be posting them.

But as I said for the most part, moderators don't go perading around the board banning accounts everytime they see an image. Because we assume that you have read and understood the Member Agreement, and there is the assumption that you have the right to post what you are posting. We don't review it or verify it, UNLESS we are told by somebody that their rights have been infringed upon.

It is HIGHLY unlikely that CNN, ESPN etc. are going to write us and demand we remove their pictures from a WTA fan message board. Because nobody here is trying to sell the images for any kind of profit. But it IS possible. And if they do, then we have to act in a way that is satisfactory to them, or whoever has claimed the rights to a certain photo. And that could very well include preventing you from posting anything here in the future.

I would be very cautious of posting images from much smaller organizations and especially individual freelance photographers who are far more concerned about the profitability of their work. Especially when you post photos directly off their server, stealing their bandwidth and alerting them immediately about what you have done via their server stats.

So as far as posting images from huge sports networks: Is it prohibited? Yes. Will they take any action? Probably not. So use your own judgement and keep in mind that when you post anything you don't own there is the possibility that somebody will respond accordingly. And we're obligated to let you know what that response may be.

Hope that helps make it a bit more clear for everyone.
