Suggestions for GM

- Challenger scores threads to be moved to the Challenger forum regardless of the players involved (i.e. no exceptions allowed, even if say a multiple GS winner is beginning her comeback at that level, so as not to allow for subjectivity)

- all "career achievements" threads to be moved to BFPT

Kvitova * Garcia * Muchova * Konjuh * Dodin * Robson

Re: Suggestions for GM

I like the idea of people making suggestions here actually.

Re: Suggestions for GM

Those suggestions are not needed. Just better moderating is all.

Unfortunately this forum has about the worst set of moderators around who are afraid to do anything if it will ruffle the panties of one WS tard.

Is that your way of making a constructive contribution to this board?

Yes. I posted my viewpoint about how the problems currently plaguing GM (needless threads, multiple threads, player bashing) can easily be solved by better moderating.

Is that your way of attempting to make me feel petty?

Completely agree. I cringe everytime I see a thread telling us a qualie result from some 10k

Ivanovic * Kvitova * Serena

Putting it in the Challenger Forum doesn't make much sense though, you might as well not post Challenger results at all. The results are already in the Challenger forum from the thread for that tournament and you can post in that thread instead of creating a new one flooding up the Challenger Forum and pushing down The Tournament threads. It's General Messages, I think all results should be allowed there.

Re: Suggestions for GM

Actually a few people complain that GM is a almost turning into a WS forum at times, so my opinion is that the challenger results can stay there. It's a nice opportunity for people to talk about them.

Thanks for the suggestions though, and it's nice to see people discussing them at least. This board is yours and what you guys make of it. No the mods didn't decide to stop the moderating in there all of a sudden so using them as an excuse is not going to get us anywhere.

Re: Suggestions for GM

It's not that the moderators aren't patrolling the area, they are just not being aggressive enough. When you see a thread posted about Serena's latest interview or Jankovic's newest shoe contract, BAM it should be moved to the player forum. There should be no need for a certain number of posters to report the thread. It is just a thread that serves a better purpose and will create less conflict and disruption if placed in the player forum. I'm not suggesting that it's my way or the highway, that I am the supreme ruler of knowing which threads should stay and which should go. But, as Lunaris pointed out in the other thread currently in this forum, it only takes a bit of common sense from the GM moderators and the place would be a lot more enjoyable for all.

I have still yet to see an answer to what problems could arise from GM moderators using a bit of common sense and deleting or moving threads without worrying about the backlash from a few posters.

Uhmmm...they are stars of the tour and have many supporters on this board. Not all of them visit player's forum regularly. I'd say those kinds of threads should stay. It's not like only their fans post in such threads. And if there is no interest in them they'll soon die away anyway...

I don't see why people are complaining this much about GM threads. People have the right to choose in which threads they will post. So I agree with Yasmine that the board is what posters make of it. If people like better discussing about Serena's interview or about Jelena's dress/shoe/whatever than about some other topics - it's called democracy, no?
