Williams Sisters threads in Doubles Forum

I see that there are a number of threads many pages longs in the double forum just on the Williams Sisters, why is this?

They aren't even a full time partnership, and they are the only team to have their own forum. Can't these threads be moved to their forum?

Re: Williams Sisters threads in Doubles Forum

why do you care? Are you in the doubles forum more than once a day to care enough?
Really this question is brought up because you hate them just like when you asked why is there a Williams Sisters forum

Re: Williams Sisters threads in Doubles Forum

No, it seems unfair that players such as Huber/Black etc. who are no.1 doubles players don't even have their own forum. Yet a team which rarely plays with each other, have their own forum which is dead, and when they do play with eachother, the threads about them aren't even in their forum

Re: Williams Sisters threads in Doubles Forum

I actually remember in the past there have been cheering threads in GM for players making comebacks in challengers etc or other similar style threads which have been locked or moved to the players forum. This should be no different from the Williams sisters and should have their own cheering thread in their forum in my opinion.

Yes, this is what I mean There should be a rule for all and no exceptions here, but clearly there isn't

Also, I looked at one of the threads in question and its filled with livescores. I also believe livescores aren't allowed in GM .

Oh I'm sorry, did I keep you waiting ?

Unfortunately I have to work to fund my access to this site. All so I can come onto here to read these lovely threads that you post for us instead of posting on this board like a normal person. I never stop appreciating how blessed I am to have that privilige.

Livescoring isn't permitted in GM. Report the posts otherwise we don't know - and mention it with your report. Otherwise the person responding may not have the time to sift through every post and may just react on what was highlighted in the report.

As for the rest of it, well, I don't know what to say. Williams sisters play doubles so there's no reason why there can't be threads about them in the doubles forum.

They do have a separate forum I note. Though if it's not very active, I'd be more inclined to delete it than use it as a dumping ground for threads that non-Williams fans want out of GM.

I don't imagine that would go down particularly well but maybe I can refer them onto you Demska seeing that you're suddenly interested in promoting a rule for all with no exceptions ?

Re: Williams Sisters threads in Doubles Forum

There tend to be a lot of posts about WS in GenMes too... many of which seem to belong in their forum. Pics of somebody in a magazine, Serena's blog entry, Venus' Eloquent Writing, etc. But it's not clear what type of thread belongs in GenMes and which in a Player's forum (if she even has a forum). This tends to be much more prevalent for WS though, than anybody else.

Apparently mods are annoyed at the OP for mentioning this, but there is an issue that is noticeable to many here. Don't know if something needs to be changed (moving threads; better enforcing placement) or it is just a matter of helping us understand.

Thank you for the response, I don't think I clarified it correctly, but it is an actual cheering thread in the doubles forum, where the fans follow their progress from tournament to tournament and post results. Normally these threads are in the players own forum/their country forum. In the past, players who have had cheering threads in General messages have had them moved to their own forum.

Sorry to argue, I just wanted to make sure I expressed myself clearly in the first post.

Arguing is fine and there's no need to say sorry for that.

Highlight the thread by reporting one of the posts as an example and someone will look at it.

I don't know what happens to cheering threads in GM but I can't remember seeing one for ages so I'll take your word that they're moved to the relevant player forums by GM moderators - in which case if the thread you're talking about meets those criteria, it will be moved.

I suppose that might raise the question of what to do with other doubles cheering threads but Williams sisters are unique in having a separate combined forum. As long as it exists, I suppose we ought to use it. After all, it would have been created on poster request.

Re: Williams Sisters threads in Doubles Forum

Well, the thread should be closed or moved no matter what. Livescoring has been going on in there, and any thread I have seen with livescores has been moved to either the tournament thread or players forum.

Re: Williams Sisters threads in Doubles Forum

Well you need to read more threads then. If the match is over by the time someone sees the report, the thread doesn't get moved as it's no longer live and there's no point.

I moved it. Its now in the Olympics thread. From now on, use the report post please, we don't sit around trolling through threads looking for something to do. If you report it, it will be taken care of.
