A more civilized GM section

Hi,

would it be possible to create a subforum in GM that is a little more moderated? I understand that WTAworld kinda thrives on a more unconstrained policy regarding the actual post content, but it would be nice to have a place where a more serious and civilized discussion would be possible. Maybe this has been tried before and it didn't work out but I'm sure not everybody likes player bashing, provocative posts in general or personal attacks etc. Maybe some of the long term members that think alike would volunteer to moderate such a subforum.

civilised and GM don't go together

Notre temps, est arrivé
Connaissons notre force, les femmes
Découvrons-nous des milliers !

You're probably right. It is more than likely that all the "uncivilized" posters will head over to the "civilized" section once something even remotely controversial is posted. It's just sad that many serious discussions in GM are turned into bash threads. On the other hand - who will define what is considered "serious discussion" and what not. That question alone would create more controversy than anyone is prepared for.

Yasmine

But I think it would be great to have a(nother) subforum for serious, constructive conversations. I'd be more than happy to moderate it, I'm on here quite a bit - although I've only been a member for a few months But I doubt many posters would have much bad to say about me...

I'm here if you need me anyhow

, it's stupid, as if the rude posters won't go in civilized threads, it's a waste of space.
I don't think i said anything wrong with my comment

You were extremely and unneccessarily rude and hostile.

Re: A more civilized GM section

Yeah originally I thought it might be a good idea but I've changed my mind. I was thinking that issues that can be well debated with thought out responses like:

Racism in Tennis
Crazy Parents with Prodigies
WTA Schedule
Tennis coverage on TV

...etc etc etc Could be separated from the WWW's, Player A def. Player B and other issues.

But it seems pointless and tedious and too much hassle for something so insignificant. If you don't like what someone says you can report them, lessen their reputation or just say/type something to them.

really? i thought i wasn't nasty, but more sarcastic, i think it is a stupid idea, waste of space especially since website had enough database errors and this would give more work for mods and it would be pointless if rudeness would be brought there anyways.
thats my opinion

From the and smilies to the condescending sarcasm, it just came across as rude. I don't think you meant for it to be that way it just kind of did.

I do agree that it would be more work for the mods, but they can always appoint new mods if need be. I would certainly be more than willing to become one if they needed extra help moderating a new forum.

I'm not sure if extra forums causes the database errors...can any of the other mods shed some light on this?

Yay, someone supports my idea.
About the database errors I'd say, judging from the response times, they result from high user load and therefor heavy load on the SQL server. Especially if a lot of users are online and many of them constantly hit the refresh button in the "OOP + Scores" threads.
