Angry How do I tell if some is a girl/male?

How do I know if a poster is male or female? Am I missing something or is there nothing on each persons profile to suggest which they are? Can we have a feature added to identify m/f? I'm male and I don't want to flatter anyone that could be a male, so how do I avoid this without a positive gender ID? Some names have ambigious femininity/masculinity and I can't tell

Oh come on haven't your parents told you how to tell the difference between them

Thank you for everything Mercedes, now please be nice to Socrates for me, perhaps fetch him a bird or two. We love you, always.

You could always do the unthinkable and ask them.

I don't know MAN (???????????) it sounds a bit awkward if they respond "IM A MALE" but I guess that will have to do as long as gender clarification is sadly missing

Well ask them if they would rather make out with Novak Djokovic or Carmen Electra

If they say Novak then chances are they're a guy
If they say Carmen then chances are they're a chick

Although there are some straight people out there...somewhere

I guess you have to ask when you are confused. Having a symbol for male or female would not help much, because people would mess with that like they do with their flags.

Re: How do I tell if some is a girl/male?

I wouldn't be ashamed to do the affectionate emoticons at someone with a female symbol. Its not much different to a chatroom (where males and females interact). Its better than not using those emoticons at all for fear of gay marriage. Anyway, I guess I won't get my way.

If I asked when I was confused that would be too much asking. I literally have no idea which are male and which are female. Even feminine names seem to have male owners

How does the fear of gay marriage come into this?

Not literally gay marriage, but I don't compliment males in real life so I wouldn't online either, right?

It's a long way from simply complimenting someone to marrying them. And it is not like this is a dating site anyway. And besides if you charmed someone with a female symbol and it would be male anyway, you still would not have what you want. Asking is really the easiest way.

Re: How do I tell if some is a girl/male?

If I ask them they could be lying/joking anyway. So why not have a symbol to save me from having to ask a hundred people? I'd trust symbol more than a single post. Anyway, its just a suggestion for my benefit. This isn't my site so whatever happens happens.
