Green underlines explained

I figure it is about time to answer some questions here for you all.
The little green links are called Kontera and we are "testing" it out to see how much revenue we can generate from it. If it is not benificial for us to have it we will definitely get rid of it.
As every forum admin knows running a forum is not free and as the member base grows it only costs more money and then you get to the point where you can no longer add users because of the budget and capability of the servers.
This sort of advertising is mandatory on any forum in order to maintain and enhance it. The intention is not to break even on income month by month, the site needs to grow for the benefit of all members, whether it be number of users, functionality, enhancements it all costs money. We have invested in upgrading the servers, hosts, and are currently working on upgrades to the site; some you see and some are still in the works. All of this costs money and with advertisers in the mix it helps keep this site "free" for you members.
Upgrades will not happen overnight however with the new equipment we will be able to offer a lot more up to and including video hosting. Unfortunately we are not able to please everybody but we do and will continue to "try" and make "everyone" happy.
Now back to Kontera
1. Yes I agree we should have notified you that we will be trying a new advertiser. It only makes sense to keep everyone informed so I do apologise for that.
2. Yes I agree that the Kontera should not be in your signatures and personal information. We do not have a second "working" copy of the site where we can test therefore we just added the info they gave us. We will edit the script so that it is less intrusive.
3. We are throwing the idea around of building a supreme membership. There would have to be a small fee associated with this membership and off the top of my head some of the perks would be a private supreme members forum, larger avatars, larger upload capability, some promotional items (shirts?) the elimination of Kontera links, supreme member status, larger pm box... possibly an arcade section with some games to help pass the time or take a break. The list can go on and it will be up to you if and what you would like to do with this supreme membership if it is something that interests you.
4. The issue with Kontera crashing browsers is odd. I will look into it some more however if you are running old browser versions it may be time to upgrade anyway since you will eventually have problems on other sites as well. Upgrades are free
I spent most of my day today on a pc and a mac testing different browser versions and gradually upgrading. I was posting, surfing, everything and unfortunately I have not had it crash on me.

Ičve seen Kontera on many other boards that I frequent and will admit at first it was really annoying but after a while I got used to seeing the green links and at times I even highlighted them to see what it said. All we ask is that you please be supportive of the community and the decisions that are made in order to keep it all together and "free".

I think many here would rather have the forum to be cheaper in maintenance by getting rid of superfluous 'upgrades', such as arcade games.

So, MTF is leading the way for WTAWorld. Or is MTF like a lab rat

I really wonder who would be wearing a WTAWorld t-shirt

Thanks for explaining...
I guess as long as my system doesn't crash I won't have a problem with them. It will be hard to get used to, and definately try to get them out of signatures and our PM's and profiles.
Thanks again.

now, the bigger problem is the pages freezing, this really needs to be taken care of before the Open starts next week when traffic in these parts picks up a lot. I understand that you are working on it.

My suggestion is to ban half of WTAWorld Most are retards and/or trolls anyway, so we can do without them.

Thanks.

As mentioned in my statement these where options in offering a supreme membership "if" it was something that would interest people and that there where various options which could be included in said membership and that it would be up to the members. I would prefer people offer suggestions rather than be negative towards an attempt.
Furthermore the supreme membership in no way needs advertisers in order to be functional, however the site needs to exist to have any sort of membership... hence advertisers.

Yes, I appreciate the work I can only imagine how much of a hassle it is.

But I do not understand this vision of expansionism. Keeping it 'small' might be much better

OMFG the "admin" (VSadmin) just joined us in July 2006...

I just noticed those shitty underlined adware/spyware links... :retard: Let me tell you, as a computer advanced user, that these things are done so the admins of a website can make lots of money so WE the users get into fake links and ads/spyware websites.

It's really disappointing to see that WTAworld.com is going this way... Letting users get into computer troubles and so on...

If you want us to pay please LET US KNOW... I, myself, prefer to pay, let's say, the real admins of this website rather than pay some stupid unreal "sponsors"...

Please get real... We're not stupid posters... Those highlighted links are done to MAKE MONEY... I thought that the admins were doing their job because of their love towards tennis... Now we have: 1) Admins that get their pants down when the "WTA CEOs" ask them not to post entry lists in this board... 2) Admins that want to make money out of the innocent posters that CLICK those underlined words... :retard:

I never thought that WTAworld.com would get this way... Maybe I'm just stupid...

^^^HA, no you wont get banned for that. We are just setting up the account so that I can better explain the kontera to all of you. We felt that admin would throw you off a bit.
Steve is the way it stays
As for your above statement regarding making money, you may want to read my post again.

1. Are you incharge of vCash?
Can you bring back vCash donations?

2. I have the latest Internet Explorer and it still freezes,
I don't think that I should install another browser just so I can browse here
hope it will resolve soon, but if disturbs so many users you should delete in my opinion,
at least until this will be fixed

3. Not my business, but just something I saw in other sites:
When they needed more money to upgrade their system they added more administrators that shared the burden of paying for the site..

4. Surely they are more normal way to advertise.. what happened to the normal
banners ads in the top of the page?

5. delete inactive users, to free more space for the board maybe..

btw you are an admin of a great board, you should be proud

Ive always found with forums you often get a bunch of losers coming on posting junk, disrupting the community, posting spam they stay for a little while then they are gone, if not banned first. Typically a total waste of time and a neusance. As a sight grows I agree it will get worse at times. However for every 10 people like that you get 1 more person that is benificial for the site. Think about all the people here that are good valued members. Wouldnt it be nice to have more of them?

AGAIN: S-P-Y-W-A-R-E... I get $90+ for cleaning innocent people's computers and getting them rid of adware/spyware/malware... Viruses aren't anymore the problem... spyware is. And websites that link words to other websites are only making this problem bigger and bigger.

I read your first post AGAIN... The only thing I get is that I prefer to pay you $30 per year than bringing my computer to the IT specialists and pay $90+ every now and then...

I think that somebody in this forum get my point...

I want to pay money so everybody can have a decent board. I don't want to see the admins get paid from 3rd parties...
