pages loading...

after a page loads, it stops... and then keeps loading these little 59 byte files like 5 or 6 times. I have opera, so the bar pops up when these are loading.

it's rather annoying. is it some kind of advertising thing?

I have the same problem, I have to close the window and open another one I think it's due to these green lines

my guess is because either

a) they were sick of everyone whinging
b) there were a few posts describing ways to block the new advertising in some browsers

they should have deleted those posts, then, and not the entire thread.

people are complaining because this new advertising is ruining the board.

Exactly. not a good sign.
We should know in a couple days whether they plan on fixing the problem.

I agree.

People who missed that thread will wonder whats happening (if they don't fix it) and will probably create new threads asking about it. They could have deleted the inappropriate comments and closed the thread and left it as a reference for other posters.

Correct.

Not just some advertising ALL advertising. Blocking advertising = no revenues = no money to pay bills = no site.

We did that. I asked people nicely to stop breaking the rules but this was continously ignored and we all get tired of cleaning up the same thread over and over again.

I wanted to keep the thread open as it was a useful ongoing focus group with people sharing their experiences with some new changes implemented. The thread is still accessible to those on the team who make the decisions and handle this stuff. So your comments are not lost and feedback not wasted.

But from my point of you, boasting about blocking ads and depriving the site of revenues is pretty sickening and hard to ignore. And no, I don't see a dime from the dollars earned on the site. I just know how much the infrastucture costs to support our family of websites. That's why the selfishness some people express on here really rattles me sometimes.
