"Stepped Down" as Mod and Leaving the Site...

FINAL POST:Opinion Piece / Op-ed

Hello everybody

Yesterday after numerous discussions with my friends, family and connections within the human rights community, i have decided that after 13 years on this site it was time to devote my time and energy towards a more worthwhile setting. I had notified some members earlier this week ( both on and off site ) that i was leaning towards leaving the moderating team as well as the site as a whole for very specific reasons, some of which i will mention below.

I had originally decided that i would hand in my 2 week notice later today as to respect the process of finding a new mod to replace my work on this site. However... issues came to a head sooner than later, thus making my exit as a mod effective immediately as well as my decision to leave the site. I was not given the same respect.

There are more than a few reasons behind my departure which i will not get into on this particular public platform.

However, as stated above i will say that the 2 main reasons behind my departure are #1, i no longer feel comfortable moderating or even posting on a site that has shown a continued lack of interest and general disrespect for my numerous calls to make our moderating ( esp. GM ) and admin team more diverse.

This includes most members of the administration team and a portion of the moderating team . I felt very strongly the importance of developing a hiring strategy to make our workforce resemble the community we operate in. After many months of trying to get my concerns and thoughts across to fellow mods and admins i decided to create a thread tackling this subject head on since we had just started the process of hiring new Non Tennis moderators. Note that my frustration and issues are almost exclusively with the admins of this site who are responsible for hiring new team members.

Let it be known that this thread was completely ignored by every admin for 4 days, in addition to my numerous attempts over my term as GM moderator to rectify the current TF climate. This was my final attempt at trying to make this place a more diversely appealing and welcoming community to our users.

#2, I felt that certain members of our team ( including ONE former team member ) were treating members of the site with obvious issues in their life with an appalling lack of respect which has been chronicled over a significant period time.

In closing, i would like to thank you all for taking the time to read this lengthy "opinion piece" or closing statement, whatever you
want to call i... LoL This is strictly my opinion as to what i personally witnessed during my time as mod and on the site over the years.

I would also like to thank you for for helping make me a better person over the years and for helping me see the world in a much more comprehensive, all-embracing and compassionate manner. I truly feel like a better human being from the life lessons i have experienced on this site .

Good luck to you all, god bless and may i see some of you on Facebook and/or the Twitterverse at a later date... But for now, i need to be left alone...

Ps... Sorry for any typos, but i just want to get out of here.

This is so sad.
Heath was a wonderful mod and an asset to this forum.
I really hate to see him go.

I'm gutted by this news

You were always one of my very top favorite contributors to this forum Heath. I understand and respect your reasons for leaving, but I will miss you sorely.

Be happy friend

Hi Heath,

I'm so sorry to hear. I know we haven't talked in a past few weeks. I wish I knew what was happening. Hope everything is well with you at the moment and I really hope to see you back one day. Let me know if you still want to meet in New York.

You are such a dumb person. I remember when you blatantly accused Heath of racism "just because" he happened to have been friends with me. You have some nerve posting in this thread.

Re: "Stepped Down" as Mod and Leaving the Site...

I'm not sure that CCR will read this, but it is a shame to see someone so dedicated leave for good. CCR has always left a positive impression on me, and I always sensed he was smiling behind the screen because of the positive energy he'd release with his posts. As a mod on a different forum, I can emphasise that it is no easy task to moderate such a large forum with so many different posters, concerns and viewpoints. We'd like to do more if we could sometimes, but often we don't have the capacity to bring to fruition. We can learn so much from CCR's service. So I can only have positive words to say about CCR, and thank him for his devotion, and indeed over a dozen years of contributions to this forum. I am sorry to hear that things did not go according to plan, and that any unresolved issues that I hope will be resolved even in his absence. Take care, buddy and all the best.

Well done to Simona Halep on finally achieving her GS dream at RG. Never say die!

Hi guys...

I just read the PM from Heath and it isn't possible to PM back..
Do you guys have any external means to contact him through FB/Twitter/email?

I hope you guys don't mind if I post my message to him in the hope he would come in here...

It is partly why I take several hiatus from TF in recent years is this very reason..

I think it is the right decision you are making to take a step away from TF if it makes you feel better and that is the most important factor to consider in making this decision.

You are a really nice person from the years we have interacted on TF
It has always been nice to return to the music [Kylie] threads and the food [what are you eating] and cooking threads, especially with your posts

Are you on any of Facebook/Twitter/Instagram or something to keep in touch and let your friends on TF that you are doing well?

I hope you continue to stay positive and be happy in pursuing the things that you are passionate about

Re: "Stepped Down" as Mod and Leaving the Site...

This is really bad news. Heath has always been one of the loveliest and most decent people on the board and a great moderator. The board will definitely be a worse place without him and I will really miss him. I totally understand why he wants to leave but I hope someone can persuade him to come back.
