Exclamation Maria Sharapova forum name change

A little while ago we started to receive complain and suggestions about to change the name of the forum for Maria Sharapova. We were all motivated at the forum, and we began just giving out real nicknames that she has morethan her nickname of masha. We really wanted to follow the mood of the other forum like: Amazing Athletic Anastasia, Bovina's Herd, Anna Maniacs, Lovely Lina's Lounge, Dementieva's Gardens of Edem, etc. So we came with a few of them. After several topic s discussing the same old thing, I decided to take on me the chrge of having democratic electons. In these democratic elections we decided that the name with the most votes shall win. Also we included the option of leaving the forum's name as it was. So the options were these:

Supernova Sharapova
Siberian Siren
Queen Maria
Magnificent Masha
Shining Star Sharapova
The Shark Tank
Masha Suralmasha
Maria's Disciples
Shrinking Sharapova
Keep it Maria Sharapova... Dismiss the elections!

All these nicknames are nicknames given by other people in other threads, and I just collected them into one poll. After the poll began, the dealine of one week was given, and the elections began. Users were told that they could have propaganda of their favorite nickname for the forum. Some did, some others didn't. After the dealine was meet, the election's results were:

Supernova Sharapova 40.00%
Siberian Siren 24.00%
Shining Star Sharapova 12.00%
The Shark Tank 12.00%
Keep it Maria Sharapova... Dismiss the elections! 8.00%
Magnificent Masha 4.00%
Queen Maria 0%
Masha Suralmasha 0%
Maria's Disciples 0%
Shrinking Sharapova 0%

So the winner of the elections was the name Supernova Sharapova, mentioned in the Late Show with Craig Kilborn, and also in TSN's commentarists several times.

Forum's Name Election Thread and Votation

Now, we the Maria Sharapova's fans, and also the users that visit this forum often, ask one of the administrators to please respond our call and to change the name of our proggressive and evolving forum. We have made democratical electons and the name Supernova Sharapova became victorious.

Please answer this as soon as possible and respond to our call of changing our forum's name.

Warmest Regards,

Luis Miranda

Yeah it would be good to change the forum name.
Though I voted for "Shining Star Sharapova" I still think the name change to "Supernova Sharapova" would be great.
Many of the other forums in Russian Roulette have different names so it would be good if Marias could be the same.

Yep, i agree. A name change would be good, because all of the other player-topics have a lil catchy adjective to go with them. Shining Star Sharapova sounds really good, because its the truth. Good topic

Whatever the eventual name, tovarischi, you need a separate "conquest" IMO. Looking @ from the board's homepage, Russian Roulette is subtitled "Including forums for Myskina and Kournikova patriots".

The problem is that Anna may be effectively retired, and of course never won a tournament while active. In fact, her record in her last full season (2002) was a very mediocre 23-25. I may not like Myskina, but she's earned being on the "marquee".

To deny that status to someone who BOTH Won Wimbledon @ age 17 this year, AND has become a "marketing centerpiece" of The Tour in favor of someone now merely "Famous For being famous" is outrageous.

Anna was and will always be an icon that transcended the mere tennisworld, JR, whether you like it or not.

Name changed, btw.

OMG!!! OMG!!! Double Standards! Double Standards! So we can talk about Graf and Hingis in GM but not about Kournikova who's never officially retired? OMG Double Standards!

Oh well, i guess it's good you've found a way to release your hate against a young girl of 23 on this board

1) You know goddam well tht neither Steffi nor Marti (both multple Slam winners, of course) get anywhere near the "non-tennis" type of thread deluges here (GM) as that "could have been a contender" does.

2) You also can see from my post above that I didn't say you should delete those, merely that Sharky (a marketing sensation who acually wins) deserves the Shared Subhead of Russian Roulette far more than someone, yes, Famous For Being Famous.

3) If you want to call that simple truth "hate", be my guest. (Perhaps doing amateur psychoanalysis of posters will further your real life goals).

Yeah, why does it say "Forums for Myskina and Kournikova patriots" under russian roulette? I mean Sharapova should be in there. If you go by tennis achievement then its Sharapova and myskina. If you go by fame, then its Sharapova and kournikova. There is no reason Sharapova should not be mentioned.

Very, very true. As I've asked before, please don't make changes in Russian Roulette because of people like Jolly Roger, who are not posting in there.
Thank you.
