Necroposting and other things.

So I'm seeing lately that necroposting (aka bringing back to life very old and closed thread for no substantial reason) is becoming more and more a habit among the posters.
I'd like the moderators to think about a more strict rule about this 'cause it's a very annoying behaviour for someone who is trying to read meaningful threads and sometimes it just adds straight and plain negativity to the board and nothing else. (like when it's used to mock really ancient statements of certain posters)
I can understand it if the facts are still fresh but It's completely useless and detrimental when you're targeting someone who is maybe not anymore on this board.

Other than this I'd like to propose to enable to see who put you on ignore. It'd be still a private/personal matter but It would help the conversations between users since you would be able to know that it's impossible to interact with a specific person.

@CrossCourt~Rally I hope you can help me with this...just to know that I've been taken in consideration at least whether the answer is going to be positive or negative.

I thought this was going to be about dead people posting

"Sometimes we've wondered if Martina actually knew what she was saying. Maybe it was her age or inexperience or something got lost in the translation. But I don't know. She comes out with something astounding and then just stares at you like, 'What did I say?' But then she'll have that glint in her eye."

So more like resurectoposting then?

Yep. Sure did.

There's already a rule for this though, but it seems like if you don't like certain threads, you shouldn't enter them to begin with.

Instead, I'd propose begin able to hide threads if the OP is on your ignore list.

It's just a bunch of people who have nothing better to do than gloating and glory hunting. Just ignore them.

You missed my point. The thread title can be interesting but when I click on it I find out that is from 2002 and has no more relevance whatsoever. It has been brought back only for futile reasons... That's a problem.

I'm not only referring to the threads of yesterday, mods know I'm pissed off by this behavior in general.

Re: Necroposting and other things.

The rules around bumping old threads is covered in point 11 of the GM rules. The mod team will action as deemed necessary.

I don't think it's possible to see who has put you on ignore I'm afraid. We can ask the webmasters if this is a possibility and advise.

Re: Necroposting and other things.

I don't know why you keep complaining everytime when you can choose to ignore those threads. No one forces you to read or post in these threads.

If someone wants to say something that is fitting in an old thread, he/she can do it, no matter if this bothers someone or not.

I'm also bothered by many things on this board, yet I don't keep whining all day

@Steve Do you know if seeing who put you on ignore is possible?
