Lightbulb Ignore for Mods/Admins...

I just found out today that we can't put Mods/Admins on our Ignore list. While I understand why this is, I think a work-around should be made so that we can do this, without being able to Ignore important (system) messages of course.

One of the main pieces of advice I regularly see from Mods when there are disagreements on TF is, "just put the person on Ignore". Well, if a Mod IS a problem, then there needs to be a way to ignore them. Either that, or the Mods needs to stop giving this advice

Anywho, just my two cents. Please let me know if you think it is possible to do a quick work-around for this.

Cheers!

Dayana Yastremska, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Fedex, The Stanimal, Naomi Osaka, The Dog Dolgopolov, Petr Korda, The Borg, Ana Ivanovic

and, of course, her majesty, la reine

Well, if it makes you feel better, we can't put anyone on ignore either. And believe me, we all have people we would like to put on ignore.

Re: Ignore for Mods/Admins...

This would have to be something that is discussed with the Mod/admin team.
Honestly, I do not see this being a priority though, but if interest is spiked, I will bring it to the team.

Richard.

Re: Ignore for Mods/Admins...

A little off-topic but the ignore-function in general doesn`t make much sense to me for different reasons.
It`s first of all contradictory to the foundamental idea of a "forum".
Further more, what should it be good for to allow people the illusion of a different, arguably better world where certain comments or things "don`t happen" ?
Another aspect is the questionable equation of virtual and real life. Aren`t people ignoring other views or each other not yet already enough in real life ?
Beside that it also can cause confusion for instance in exchange of information.
Anyway, you`re of course free to ignore my post.

Richard.
Consider interest spiked, as I've been going back and forth with the site administrator as far as lack of moderation, and so I do believe one should be able to ignore general posts from anyone.

Conversely, no, miffed, I don't think mods or admins would tokenly be able to ignore users, and it is the job to read and moderate posts.

If the threads started by someone on ignore were invisible, it would be a godsend.

I would agree, but to be fair from an actual practical technical standpoint, this may not be an option. The site can probably block a certain user from your view, but in not showing a thread it's having to extrapolate that farther and prevent forum messages being seen by you that aren't written by people on your ignore list.

If that made sense.

Re: Ignore for Mods/Admins...

there's no available plugin that you can use to ignore admins/mods. if you're going to ignore us, you won't get notifications on site updates, important threads that we open, and infractions that we send for breaking site rules. while we can still move your threads and delete duplicates/spam/irrelevant posts.

Why was this suggested?

Re: Ignore for Mods/Admins...

It was suggested by the OP, @AmtrakQuebec , because a moderator's solution is to ignore someone, and the OP stated that he thought there should be a workaround (and included that it shouldn't prevent the receipt of site messages or announcements) that allowed them to not see posts by moderators, if it were possible, because a moderator was the problem.
