Important Pop-up query

Shortly after I log into WTA World, I get various pop-ups...one is for a company called "Ringtone Universe"...which is followed by messages asking me to click yes if I want to change my dial -up to an adult premium rate service "Instant Access"...I click no, but it takes a few more no's to be rid of the message...it also asks if want to download a partilcular file...

Im not sure if this is related to WTA World at all...it has happened the last couple of times Ive gone online...and it has happenend both times when I ve been looking at WTA World...but WTA World is the first site I always check...

Any ideas??

Manchester City 2011 FA Cup winners! 2012 Premier League Champions! 2014 League Cup winners and Premier League Champions! At last!!!!!

I've been getting that too.

Does this have any connection to my online porn-related activities??

I haven't seen that ad yet on this site. I know that some ad-ware can make ads appear as soon as you open your browser. My friend had a lot of that crap on her comp.

You could try visiting another site first next time and see if it still happens.

Download the free version of adaware and scan your computer:

Under no circumstances would such an advert ever be allowed to run on WTAworld. This sounds like scumware that was installed on your computer - by a dubious website - without your knowing.

No, this ad is definitely on WTAworld. I keep having to dismiss it too and I scan my computer with adaware regularly. I've not downloaded it but it's definitely a malicious code and I'm sure that other people have. E.g. someone posted recently in non-tennis with a query about having a pornsite infecting his computer - I think tennisilove09.

I haven't been having any such problems. . It is interesting that so far the people who've posted here with the problem are from the UK. Would you guys be on the same network by any chance?

I do get pop-ups but none of the malicious variety that you have to close several times to get rid of.

It might appear when you visit WTAworld but that doesn't mean our ad agency is providing you with this advertisement. Unfortunately, ad-hijacking (which US courts have ruled as being legitimate and legal) results in an increasing number of adverts you see on this site coming from unapproved sources outside our control. The only way to prevent this is to heighten the security settings on your computer, frequently run software such as ad aware, keep virus checkers up-to-date etc.

I will have this matter investigated immediately as a matter of urgency. Rest assured, there will be serious repercussions if our advertising partner is indeed serving these reported advertisements to our UK based visitors. I'm very confident this is not the case however.

Thanks you all for the replies. In particular to the board admins, who have the thankless task of running a huge board like this...not something I could ever manage!

Interesting to hear that one or two others have has similar problems...at once alarming and reassuring!

Ive deleted all my cookies, and so far I haven't had the Ad repeat, but every time there is a pop-up I get nervous!

As long as you don't OK the ad at any point, I don't think it'll do anything to your computer. Mine's certainly virus free and I've had the ad three times now. (not for a couple of days, so it might have gone...)

Thanks Amanda for looking into it!
