Too bad I wasn't warned... but it's not an obligation from the manager - it belongs to us to check...
No luck for me: my two winner picks withdrew (Yastremska and Anisimova in the other event). You want to think the youngsters are solid and hungry, but no, they're fragile for exceeding their physical limits... already.
Sorry about that. Being an American, I think I was asleep when it happened.
Re: FITD-Nottingham - No Play on Tuesday - See Post #5 for Details.
Donna Vekic is the overwhelming Champion pick with 35 of 58 participants selecting her. There are six other Champion picks with Rybarikova (5) and Garcia (4) the only choices with more than one selection. Only 48 participants have a Champion pick due to Yastremska's late withdrawal, as she was the choice of 10 people.
All the red in the Statistics is primarily attributable to Yastremska's withdrawal and also to a few persons not accounting for Putintseva's withdrawal earlier in the week.
After the Round of 32
is in the lead. We head into a full Round of 16 tomorrow, perhaps on grass, but very likely indoors once again.
Here are the Round of 16 matchups for tomorrow with the number of Participants picking each player:
Round of 16
Garcia (55) v. Lumsden (0)
Golubic (6) v. Ruse (only Ceze)
Sakkari (42) v. Jorovic (only happydayhk)
Sorribes Tormo (4) v. Brady (24)
Tomljanovic (51) v. Dart (6)
Pera (11) v. Maria (32)
Mladenovic (16) v. Sharma (0)
Paquet (0) v. Vekic (57)
Best pick of the Round of 16 goes to
who was the only participant to pick Ruse to advance to the Quarterfinals. The pick is especially good because it was originally based upon a first round upset of Yastremska, prior to her withdrawal.
Here are the Quarterfinals Matchups with the number of persons who have picked each player:
Garcia (17) v. Ruse (0)
Sakkari (32) v. Brady (8)
Tomljanovic (33) v. Maria (15)
Mladenovic (only Markmik) v. Vekic (46)
After the Quarterfinals
are tied for the lead.
There are three possible Champions. If Brady makes the finals
will win the title. If there is either a Garcia-Vekic final or Maria defeats Garcia in the final
will win. Finally,
can win if Garcia defeats Maria in the final.
Posting of results over the weekend could possibly be delayed somewhat, but you can keep up with the results on a live basis by clicking on the link posted above.
Here are the Semifinal matches with the number of participants picking each player:
Garcia (11) v. Brady (3)
Maria (only jrm) v. Vekic (43)
The FITD Nottingham Championship will be determined by the winner of the interrupted Semifinal match between Caroline Garcia and Jennifer Brady. If Caroline Garcia wins
will win the title. If Jennifer Brady wins
will win the title.
is the 2019 Nottingham FITD Champion.
had a lead going into the Finals that was just large enough to withstand Caroline Garcia's Finals victory and edge out
by the narrowest possible 10 point margin.
Thank you to all who played. I would also like to thank
for helping me figure out the Live Scoring spreadsheet which I hope was helpful to you in following the tournament's progress.
