Because it's a 128 Q draw rather than 96 this year so when you factor in the 8 WCs and 16 Q's, that becomes 104, give a take a couple of withdrawals and people using protected ranking. There's 2 weeks remaining to point score, this week and next, and if Iga isn't playing next week, her 102 will be precarious if people below her string a few wins together while she remains inactive. Definitely touch and go.
Iga Swiatek's team claim they hope to get IN, how far is she?
She could do with playing. Baczinsky won in France earlier, so has passed her. Voegele also won, but still needs a bit more. Kr Pliskova will pass her if she beats Vekic later. Zhu has a great shot of winning Luan and theres a few more in the running as well.
I'm 99% sure she will get a Wimbledon WC, but would be nice for her (and the British girls) if she did it herself, would remove any doubt as well.
Yeah, that's what I mean as well. She's in no ITF events next week, so sneaking into Rome would be the only chance she has to get one or two wins (and points) to secure her place in the Wimbledon main draw herself.
