They've now added English subs to the video!
Similar itw with Vera & coach is coming out soon too
Also, not sure about Aryna but Vera will play Rogers Cup qualies
Aryna is on both the MD and qualies list. Unfortunately, they used the week right before Eastbourne to determine MD entries - with her Eastbourne points added, she would easily have been IN instead of being the top ALT (actually, Aryna should have been IN anyway, but Mladenovic took her spot despite her lower ranking thanks to some shady WTA rule
Of course, with my luck Aryna will probably draw Genie Boo in R1, which would mean:
1. Needing to buy a ticket for an overpriced night session on center court
2. No opportunity for decent photos
3. Having to watch the match from 18372837 feet away, in the 300 section
4. Suffering as a lonely Vuvulenka fan while the rest of the crowd is against her
As for Vera, hopefully she won't go too far in San Jose (
), otherwise she'll have to pull out of Montréal qualies and I won't get to see her.
At least she's not playing doubles this week. The switch with Cincinnati in the calendar really screwed us. Having two smaller WTA events the week before (instead of one Premier 5) means that every year, players I want to see pull out of Rogers Cup qualies at the last minute because they're still playing in California/Washington in singles and/or doubles.
Disappointed that Yastremska (#100) and Blinkova (#101) have not entered Montréal qualies this year (the list goes from #99 to #102
). Blinky is already in North America, playing San Jose this week, so I don't get why she didn't enter.
I would also have loved to see players like Anisimova and Kostyuk in action for the first time. And
at Sasnovich skipping the Rogers Cup yet again (is she allergic to Canada or something?).
I'm glad Mamarenka got a WC (even though her current level is
), but she has pulled out too many times in the past for me to get excited until I actually see her on a practice court in front of me.
