that doesnt matter if you've got 900 in both columns
you can have all 5 P5 events in your best 16
Obviously. But there's greater motivation to play a P5 if, say, one of your P5 scores is 1 pt.
Like I said, she's already a lock for the YEC (if not yet officially). With several YEC spots still very much up for grabs, several top 20 players are traveling all over Asia (and soon Europe) for points. Meanwhile, she instead can rest/train, arrive in beijing early and adjust to the time/weather and play Beijing (1000 points up for grabs) on fresh legs, then head to Singapore and rest up/train for the YEC while many others will come in tired, jetlagged, etc.
While 900 points is nothing to sneeze at in a vacuum, there's not tremendous upside to going for it given the entire situation. Girl is reaping the benefits of successfully frontloading her season and is playing it safe and not risking injury. Extremely smart scheduling.
Given that Muguruza has been playing with a strapped thigh on and off this whole season, I can't fathom why, with the YEC locked down, she's playing both Tokyo AND Wuhan in addition to Beiing. Guessing she tanks out after a round or two in Tokyo.
