Re: WTA event is coming back to Bol!

Old news...
It will not be "real" WTA tournament.
Hopefully Tena keeps improving her ranking so she won't need a WC :P

Interesting how I haven't seen this news anywhere in the media until now. Guess they don't want to publish it too much until it's 100% certain.

As for it being or not being "real", if you're referring to the field that'll come to play there, that'll depend on a lot of things. I'd love it if they'd move the slot a bit away from early June that they mention, cause that could mean either during the French Open or just after it and that doesn't promise a lot of good players.

But anyway, it's a long way to go so we'll see what comes out of it. It can't be worse than the Baku Slams or the Flops of Florianopolis that we have in the calendar right now...

Yes you have missed it, it was reported in pretty much all croatian media and also discussed here in forum.
It should be WTA Challenger so that is why I posted quotation marks.
I think it was written somewhere it will take place during second week of Roland Garros.
It would be great for lower ranked croatian players if they would award them wild cards.

Re: WTA event is coming back to Bol!

Yup, now I see there were some other articles like...http://www.slobodnadalmacija.hr/Teni...8/Default.aspx

As you said, they mention a WTA challenger in the second week of the French, which would still be by far the biggest women's tennis event here in Croatia. I won't complain

Who reads Slobodna Dalmacija

Re: WTA event is coming back to Bol!

classic Patsy...

As for Slobodna, I don't read but found that article as I googled for more info. That being said, might've been announced on some TV or radio show and I rarely consume either

And when it comes to Bol half-WTA 125 event, for sure I would attend
And hopefully there will be Miki Lucic, Tena, Iva Primorac, Jana Fatt and Ali Balic with WC, but knowing reality They will give WC to SaiSaiZheng Tena and Mekovec

Re: WTA event is coming back to Bol!

I find it a bit hard to believe that our top ranked girls would play a 125 in the 2nd week of the French despite not having anything better to do at that time...but who knows

Re: WTA event is coming back to Bol!

By top ranked girls you mean the three in the top 100?
1. half Croat Tomljanovic
2. half Croat Linette
3. Ana
4. Miki

Linette is half-Croat? Really? Now that's a first for me...

Yes, by that I meant Ajla, Miki and Ana. Miki probably wouldn't show up because of a large concentration of psycho-family in relative proximity, Ana will still be in Paris playing doubles or something and Ajla...well who knows, she might actually still be in the singles tournament at RG, or she'll be shooting balls at Ivan in doubles.

Re: WTA event is coming back to Bol!

She is half because of the fact she was based in Croatia, she speaks Croatia, she was cheering for Ana in 2nd round of Nottingham (she was in the stands), and she has Croatian team - Ivo Zunić and Matko Jelcić

I hope Miki one day will be able to visit Bol However I think it is too painful.
Ana will be doing shopping for Valentina
Ajla... probably watching Kyrgios, Cockinasskiss and Keys with bit bored face

Re: WTA event is coming back to Bol!

Didn't know those fun facts about Linette, sounds cool

Yes, you're right in that Ana might snatch a chance to see the family if she's out of RG by the start so that's good. Finally that we benefit from her obsession with babies

As for Miki, it'd be beyond wonderful to see her back there before she retires, and the stadium would surely be packed full. But we all know the chances are slim.

P. S. It's possible I could attend the event too
